I've got one for you, though it has two parts. The Patient/Methodical Miner: Finds the diamonds and takes only enough to make a Pickaxe and Enchanting Table. Then leaves the rest there until they have a Fortune III or Silk Touch Pick. After Enchanting they: 1) Return to the diamonds to mine the ore with a Silk Pick to take to the surface, store the ore for later, or place the ore to then mine it all again but this time with a Fortune Pick. 2) Takes the Fortune Pick into the mines first to get enough diamonds for gear, then uses Silk Touch before placing the ore storage to keep for later use.

For each of the main branches I leave a 2 space gap between each of the sub branches, meaning that no block goes unexposed. Once I felt I've gone far enough down a main branch, I'll go back to the central chamber to start another main branch. If I'm in need of more common resources like stone for building, I create a new main chamber so I have more main branches to work with.

I like to dig straight until I find a valuable ore. From there, I mine all of the ore and change direction based on which direction had more ore. If I dug more to the right, I head right. If I dug into the left wall more, I head left. And, I counted Iron, Gold, Diamonds, and Emeralds as rare ore. If I found caverns or mines, I'd hopefully have some kinds of doors, switches, or pressure plates with me to make a path to note I could come back later. From there, I'd turn around and use go straight through the entirety of the maze I just made, leaving signs at the first of every intersecting interval so I could find my way back. Then, I'd do the same process in reverse to mark where to take tracks for a minecart.

I'd probably be some weird mix of the branch miner enjoyer, with strip mining, but using red stone engineering; and my goals will be beyond your understanding. So giant chasm growing both downwards and outwards increasingly the further out the red stone reaches, effectively digging a pyramid strip mine with a small entry at the top of the pyramid, all of which branches out into new pyramids at set amounts of space between each. (like the branches are split apart by set amounts.) This is basically going to create a 3d fractal in the earth of minecraft.

I'm definitely a straight line miner and a bit of cave miner too, but with straight line I always have this one big main tunnel and do straight lines from there on each side, like one giant branch mining. I usually go as far as I can or I find some diamonds. But often I just face a big lava pool and call it a complete line. And then start the next one 3 blocks away. And I usually do this long enough so I have both enough materials to build a mob xp farm and diamonds to make all the tools, armor, and other stuff. So it's not a waste either way.

Having been through a few worlds with my mate, he's come to realise there's two things that can be guaranteed in my corner of the world. 1) I will build on a mountain, usually a big bugger off tower. 2) I will have a massive pit to bedrock within the confines of my territory. I will also then proceed to start reshaping and fortifying the entire mountain range.
