I saw Bowling For Soup headlining a stage at Slam Dunk festival a few years ago, and they were playing at the same time as Enter Shikari and Neck Deep. Those are NOT bands I’d want to play at the same time as in the UK, but bowling for soup had a huge crowd AND some people i spoke to mentioned word of a bunch of people being there specifically to see them. Then you’ve also got major appearances at the ‘final’ Warped Tour, Download Festival, Reading Festival, multiple successful headline tours… you get the point. This band are, I’d say, actually one of the bigger pop punk bands. Around the same mark as Sum 41, Good Charlotte, Yellowcard… just a bit behind Blink 182 and Fall Out Boy.
Bowling For Soup are one of the biggest bands in pop punk and put on such a legendary live show. Their hits 1985, High School Never Ends, Girl All The Bad Guys Want, Almost and Punk Rock 101 have millions of KZbin views and Spotify Streams between them, and the band have a great following. How did this band get so big compared to other bands? What makes them unique? Is it the funny lyrics and humour? Or something else. Jaret Reddick also has a big career and a good podcast, check it out!
