@@datrickster8674 the thing is, they've mostly laid low the last 10k years. That is a long time. Yeah, one of the writers thought he was real clever and made the "Eye of Terra" (as in the eye of the aquila head that has it's eye) a major imperial symbol before the Eye of Terror was ever explored or named. Supposed to symbolize that the Emperor is always watching or something. Horus used a stylized version as his sigil, which became the chaos-star eye used by chaos marines all over the galaxy, which is why it's fallen out of favor in the Imperium. Sanguinius used it too: had a ton of them all over his armor, but he modified the pupil to look like a blood drop. Look at the famous picture of Big E confronting Horus over Hawkboy's corpse. Hawkboy has the blood-drop eye on his shoulder and waist, while Horus has the normal one on his chest and waist with the Chaos version hanging between his legs.

While a Primarch possess really strong willpower and fortitude they can still be corrupted by chaos, so when the Daemon took control of him that's when his soul was corrupted by Slaanesh and while through his willpower he was able to beat the Daemon the damage had already been done. Whilst his fall was one of the dumbest I think that his fate was signed the moment he picked up the sword, it was the corruption that didn't allow him to put down the sword, that's how Chaos works and you know this better than anyone, it's a subtle and slow process, some are able to resist it but not all are as incorruptible.

Regardless of the changes in lore over the years, the shortest answers are a whole lot of tragedy and pain. Yeah some were more arguably justified than others in their falls, but they all are were tragic. Especially the four who fell fully to a dark god. No one deserves Chaos taking their soul. No one. And although I doubt they can be saved, I hope they can all be released through death like Horus was. Oblivion is better than an eternity of Chaos.

Lorgars motive was to get more choir boys Angrons motive was to not get aborted or being too angry Fulgrims motive was to get some chaos hussy Alpharius Omegons motive was to... uhhh Horus' motive was to gain more white child authority and save his receding hairline Perturabos motive was to 1 up Rogal Dorn and build something for once Mortarions motive was to smell something decent Konrad Curzes motive was to be as edgy as possible Magnus' motive was to be a good boy (redeem my man)

Alpharius' motive for joining Chaos and the Rebellion was to Save the Empire and the Emperor from a Worse Fate. Which was close to what Omegon claimed was Alpharius' motivations when Omegon was impersonating Alpharius after Alpharius was killed by Dorn, but Omegon thought that Alpharius was trying to dodge the prophesy too by only appearing to join Chaos. Which is also what Alpharius said when he was impersonating a Alpha Legion Astartes while serving Omegon who was impersonating Alpharius after Alpharius was killed by Dorn, except he thought that it was actually joining Chaos to dodge the prophesy, not just appearing to join Chaos. And what Omegon said was Alpharius' motivations when Omegon was disagreeing with Alpharius and deciding to actually rebel against the Emperor because Horus was the best way to stop that prophesy, and that after a few hundred years of observation, Alpharius could easily take out Horus right after, no Chaos required. The way Alpharius reacted to Omegon's description of his motivation was to say that Chaos was required, and that it had to be a true pledge of loyalty to chaos so that his hand would be steady, and that Omegon would be able to pull him back from Chaos when the deed was done. Which is what the Astartes who was impersonating Alpharius told Omegon when Omegon was impersonating an Astartes, and ordering Omegon to fall to Chaos with those under his direct command. But Omegon, while impersonating an Astartes, realized that he would need to make sure that not all of his Astartes fell to Chaos, so he impersonated an Astartes impersonating Alpharius to order half of his most loyal squad to only appear to fall to Chaos but to NOT fall to Chaos, so that they could save Alpharius - who was himself - when the time was right. That Astartes who was impersonating Omegon impersonating Alpharius thought this plan wasn't quite up to their usual quality, and so decided to involve a few normal humans in it just in case things went south, because that Astartes realized he was impersonating Omegon (who didn't exist) impersonating Alpharius, and wasn't quite certain that Omegons plans had enough plans within those plans within those plans to truly live up to the Alpha Legion standards. tl;dr : Somewhere along the way, the Alpha Legion forgot that Alpharius was killed by Dorn.

Any concerns that the Emperor would toss aside one if His creations, deem it dangerous and destroy it, was clearly delusional and the Space Marines had never seen such a thing. What do you mean with "Thunder Warriors". There never was such a thing.

Fulgrim was also perceiving events differently because of the influence along with everyone that entered the temple with the sword. He couldn’t see that Manus wasn’t messing up his plan but actually fkn saving them because he was oblivious to what was actually about to happen. (They were engaged in ship battle against dark age tech ships and fulgrim was cocky because they were “old”) Fulgrim tried to stop his swing and then let his body be possessed.

I think of Konrad Curze in the same why I do Alpharius. Both were loyal to the Emperor, but saw joining the traitors as being "what he would want them to do". The Night Haunter Primarch book has Konrad confront an effigy of the Emperor and explain as such -- Konrad thought the Emperor wanted him to be the villain of the story, so he was.

The most tragic part of the Horus Heresy is that it could easily have been prevented in a number of ways: Let Lorgar worship the Emperor, show some respect for Perturabos achievement & show some trust for Magnus by telling him more about the Webway Project. All the other Chaos Primarchs would more than likely stay loyal if these 3 Primarchs stayed loyal.
@chaptermastermarneuscalgar69263 жыл бұрын
I just like to point out that Magnus was wrapped around Tzeentch's finger almost immediatly after the Emperor arrived on Prospero because the Thousand Sons were being wiped out by gene seed flaw called the Flesh Change and to save them Magnus made a deal with with a Warp entity to save them. Tzeentch then proceeded to play Magnus like a fiddle by making Magnus think he killed the warp entity he made a deal with, which lead to Magnus thinking he knew more about the Warp then the Emperor.

At around 12:05 what do you mean by Horus losing his hair in being one of the catalysts that set him off to join Chaos and the dark side? Did he go bald naturally, or was some evil entity the cause of his hair loss? Like is the case in most pieces of media where ones looks start to decay and degrade to the point where you start looking many decades older or what 'tis the reason for his baldness and/or even the mention of his baldingness?

The fact that they felt betrayed by the emperor has a warrior class is very important imo. When they realized that the emperor had no room for them in his plans for humanity it was (understably) a huge blow for them. Immagine fighting for centuries for your father just to realize one day that you are just a tool about to be discarded. You would go bad shit crazy. In the end it had to happen at some point. The emperor could not get away forever with creating super soldiers and backstabing them. It some ways it makes me think about the samurais rebelion against the emperor of japan when their cast got sacked because society had no use for them anymore.
