Hi Yvette, just found you channel and you did such a brave move! I am a Singaporen living in Geneva too, since 2022. Just like you, i'm retired (in our own definition). Not living a grand rich luxury life but content and very well happy!

Very happy for you but living in Switzerland MANY questions pop up in my head hearing your words. Not sure if it's ok to ask such concrete questions, so I won't, but just my 2 cents: Switzerland is the most expensive country in Europe or maybe even in the World. Most retired Swiss are fleeting abroad so they can finally stop working, even with their high wages and long years of work (most of them started earning early, that is the model). Those, who were able to stay here, own property they inherited. I work in VERY high paying job in CH and won't be able to retire here without counting every frank.

I am from India and after completing my bachelor's here I will move to Switzerland for doing masters and they doing a high paying job then maybe investing into properties,stocks, setting up company who knows. Nice video and you are a very nice person but I can't really imagine that by working a relatively junior/fresh-grad corporate job plus the 2 beauty gigs for 2-3 years allowed you to have financial independence for the rest of your life (especially living in Switzerland).

Yvette, I asked myself the same questions when i was your age. How can I spend the next 40 years in an office? I quit my job after 2 years and backpacked around the world. I ended up in Switzerland also . You are a very intelligent, focused and insightful young lady. I wish you luck!

Investing nowadays isn’t complicated at all anymore. It you would want some tips (no financial advice) I‘d be happy to point you the right direction. As you live in Switzerland too, there are some options that aren’t ridiculous expansive when it comes to fees. It’s easy to use ETFs, needs very little work and can be done with little knowledge and without having to pay some bank advisor stupid fees. Let me know. Cheers 谢谢

Great video!! I am Swiss and love to see that you seem to like it here. I was wondering: did you have any connection to Switzerland before? Because I know receiving a residence permit here can otherwise be quite complicated if you come from a country out of the EU. Would love to hear about it 😊.

Thanks for sharing! You have worked hard to reached where you are now and I am glad you are enjoying life over there. Yes I find Singapore's life really hectic and most Singaporeans simply focused on working in their prime and making more money however with no clue of really how to enjoy life. I grew up in Singapore & I used to mindlessly spending almost most of my salaries over luxury stuffs & now thinking back it was not wise & years of working here really made me dislike the mundane working culture here. My current goal is to earn enough to eventually buy a decent house overseas in a country that I like so that I can visit back & forth or work there should I have a chance. One thing that I feel is that you should still find an employment since you are still in your prime but you should find it in Switzerland if you can. It will be a good experience since European work culture is so much different & better than Asian culture.

Thank you so much for watching & taking time to leave a comment! ❤️ I have the same sentiments as you do, as a fellow Singaporean, I can see my parents' & most singaporeans' pov that working hard & earning money is most important. But when you travel/go abroad you see both sides of the coin, there's no right or wrong but just do what makes you happy. Honestly, I have absolute faith that you'll be able to achieve your dream & I am rooting for you with all my heart❤️🫶🏻 & yes thank you for the suggestion about finding work in Switzerland, I totally agree with what you said, perhaps in the future when I find myself in the field that I really love i might haha whenever that may be, & i think that would complete the experience moving aroad hehe🫶🏻

@@YVETTEINSWITZERLANDAppreciate your support! Yes my parents will only see my plan of going overseas as unrealistic and only wanted me to save up so that I can afford a house here but since young I have been traveling overseas and honestly I hate the prospect of being stuck in the same country all my life when there are so much things to see and enjoy out there. However I also know they have good intention so that I don't have to worry in my later years. Yes it is better to have work since cost of living there is so high and it will also gives you the opportunity to communicate with your colleagues in their local languages and improve yours!

Thanks for sharing! I always thought you went there for work. How much did you need to retire in Switzerland?
@YVETTEINSWITZERLAND8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! 🤭❤️ I won't be disclosing the exact amount, but I think it varies for everyone! But a general rule of thumb according to FIRE, 70% of your annual income & living off small withdrawals 🫡

Lovely vkogs! You certainly worked hard in your life. Thats admirable. However, recently I am seeing a trend of younger people not wanting a job and rather be an influencer so to speak. And more established people quiting their professions doctor, baker, teacher, you name it as their youtube channel is providing them more income or more flexibility in life, not 9 to 5. We need people to do the proper jobs to keep this society going. I wonder what are your thoughts?
@YVETTEINSWITZERLAND8 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching & your compliments ! 🥰🙏🏻 in my personal humble opinion, I feel that despite how effortless "influencing" may look on the surface, it is not as easy to "make it" per se. & the fact that people could quit their 9-5 to pursue that makes it an actual career, but I wouldn't know that because I'm not one hahaha. I think end of the day there will never be an "easy job" in the world, every profession has its pros & cons, you have to work hard in one way or another so it just boils down to what you prioritise in life I guess 🥹🥹 & I feel that all industries are evolving with automation & AI, we are alot more efficient with how we work, that means that this opens up a lot of opportunities for people to move into more creative line of work. ☺️❤️
