Hi! It is totally fine for someone who has 0 finance background to attempt the course, I didn't have any finance background either and came from an engineering degree and was able to pass the exam within 1 month by just using the materials that the course provided without any additional resources. As long as you study the material that is provided by the course it is totally passable! Remember, as long as you score more than a 60 you get the certificate, even if you get a 100 you still obtain the same certificate!

I would suggest going over the parts that you are weaker in one more time and just gloss over the rest of the stuff you are familiar with. The questions in the exam are very wordy to mislead you but it won't be similar to the unit quiz and exercises. The terms and concepts are what is important so as long as you have those in mind you'll be fine!

I would say so yes. The concepts are whats important. The exam is mostly memorization than calculation.

Some formulas are given some aren't. A quick google will yield you the result on what formulas require memorization and which ones are given.

You can book a time for the exam through the online portal. You have to be at the physical location to take the exam because it is paper based and will have 1 person making sure you don't cheat.

Hey, I know this comment is a bit late considering you posted the video 2 years ago. I hope you see this though, I just had a few questions, I was going through the quiz's you mentioned in the video, and honestly I felt that the questions were easy. The reason I'm saying this is that even in my Uni courses I do the practice exams and they're easy but once I get to the test I find it more difficult (sometimes I think I will get a 80-90 but get 65-70). I know I'm rambling but my question is how similar is the quiz questions and the practice exam to the actual IFIC itself? By the way I'm doing it using the IFSE.

When I did the exam the question structure was very similar. Always trying to fool the test taker with a lot of english to reading to mess with us. I would say if you can get 80-90 on practice exams you should be fine. The score in the end ultimately does not matter if you are above the passing grade. A 100 is ideal but not required for the job. No one checks how much points you scored on the cert.

Yes, there will be math calculations on this test. You are allowed to bring in a financial calculator or a scientific calculator, decision is up to you. Most of the math questions on the test require you to know the formula and what needs to be calculated. That in my opinion is tougher than the actual math.

Hi! If you put in your delivery address and you are in Canada there should be a tracking number generated for you and your physical book should be sent to you. Otherwise there's an online book on the IFSE website when you login that you can access and it's 100% exactly the same as the physical book

In my opinion if you've finished high school and bought the study material the exam really isn't that tough to pass. Most of my colleagues that took this exam passed it on their first try. Bear in mind you only need a 60/100 to pass and get the certificate. There is no difference between a 100/100 certificate and a 60/100 certificate. You will be acknowledged all the same.

It's not that difficult to pass. The IFIC package I got from IFSE provides all the materials you will need to pass the IFIC! Since the passing grade is only 60, as long as you score higher than that you are fine. The CSC may be the one you are thinking of that is harder, hope that helps! I took around 2 months to prepare and make sure I understood the material before I attempted the exam and passed my first attempt! You can do it!

I want to get into bank jobs and so I was planning to go for IFC. For a beginner in this sector like me what are the essential pre knowledge do u think I should have that would make my studying for IFC helpful?

The only pre-knowledge I would recommend is that some basic understanding of math up to a high school level is enough. Be aware though that even being IFIC or CSC certified does not guarantee any job offers. It merely puts you above the other candidates that do not have such certifications. I always warn anyone who is looking to be certified before hand because these certifications do cost quite a fortune to obtain.

More theory based no pure math. More regarding what you understand about the theory than any calculations

Hi Henry! Could you please help me? I am still confused about which institution to choose. I am not an expert in math and I saw that the CSI institution package has a Financial Investment Calculations Toolkit. What is your thought about that? Is the test from the CSI institution more difficult?

Some think that the IFC offered by the CSI institute is harder than the one offered by the IFSE. Some think it's the other way around. Both have math in it. My thinking is that the CSI institute provides more tools for you to pass the exam so you have the option of buying it or not. I can't say for every person but most of my coworkers just bought the base package from CSI if they took the IFC from there. All the addons are quite expensive.

Hi! The exam pattern is all multiple choice questions 100 of them. 90% of it is memorization of specific terms. I am unsure if you can take the exam before reaching Canada. May have to check on the CSI and IFSE website to see offerings especially with covid going around.

Absolutely not! The role requires no experience at all! You can apply to all Mutual fund representative jobs ranging from banking advisor to financial advisor! If you are planning to stay long term in the industry I would definitely suggest the CSC but if you're just dipping your toes in to take a look IFC will be enough! Hope that answers your question!

Yes! The math needed for IFC is very little. When I took the IFC there were less than 10 questions out of 100 that actually tested you on math. It was mainly reading comprehension with numbers thrown in to mix you up and make you feel like calculation is needed when most of the time you do not even need to calculate anything. (Numbers are already given to you in the question).

Absolutely no previous knowledge required! If you want, you can also take the CSC which is a 2 part exam and even more recognized with the financial institutions! IFIC like I mentioned is only for short term. IFIC is cheaper also.

I took the written exam so I have no opinion on the online exam at the test center. I went into a physical test center for the written exam as well. I don't think there will be much of a difference? Depends if you are ok with drawing circles on those little cards

In my opinion the IFC exam is not hard to pass at all so I do not think it is worth it to buy other external materials. If you are going for exams harder than the CSC then I would suggest external materials. CSC and IFC I do not think you need to buy other materials to supplement the books and resources already given to you.

Just the book is fine! You should have the online material which includes practice quizzes after every section and also 1 practice exam you can take unlimited amount of times. These are enough for you to pass the exam!

Hi! I simply bought the required material that came with the basic package. I did not purchase any additional study material. You are required to buy the package to because the exam booking comes with the study materials included. You cannot book only the exam and exclude the study material. It's a whole package. That is totally up to you. I had my TI-83 scientific calculator with me when I took the exam while other people had the most barebones calculator like the ones elementary kids use.

Yes! But it's all locked to my IFSE account. If you buy the package through either IFSE or CSC for the IFC exam you can get all the content you require to pass the exam! Another one of my viewers just bought the very basic package (you need this for the exam booking anyways, you cannot book an exam by itself you need a package) and scored 80+! Hope that helps!

You will need to understand why the answer is correct in the practice exam. In the actual exam there are A LOT of words. @@usmanhassan1278 The CSC is pretty standard for any job in finance so it would definitely be odd if you have the CPH but not the CSC. Whether or not it will hurt your job opportunities also depends on the job experience you have and whether or not you are required to hold the CSC for the job.

This exam cannot be taken outside of Canada unfortunately. There are online courses you can take but in order to take the exam you have to go to a physical exam center in Canada.
