Noah's strategy in this match was Self Burning-out: The Speedrun. Almost every round he burned out in 15 secs lol. Could be why he lost.

Noah has always played like this. It can get you deep in tournaments, but eventually you will lose to someone that manages their meter better.

Its 1 part that he lost cause of burnout and the other part is that of the matchu cause he mostly never fought a Lily in tournaments.

Noah has a lot of practice in burnout and is really good at preventing checkmate situations when he's in burnout. He's also doing it against Lily who doesn't really have good burnout pressure to push people into the corner. Compare it to something like Aki or even Manon being able to frame trap you with burnout sequences repeatedly (There are a ton more but just a couple examples) You can notice how much El Chakotay is respecting him when he's in burnout because of this. He almost never tried to DI him even when Noah was in the corner in burnout.

Let it be known that from Yipes' body language and demeanor, he knew that El Chakotay won once he landed the command grab. Anyway, this is a big win for Lily players. Nah, Ex does the same as heavy cmd grab with lily, the only difference is that tje Ex does the damage of the heavy, but with the grab range of the light cmd grab

Lily is the best grappler in the game since season 1, in this season her buffs just made her stronger where she was already strong, still gonna be a grappler who doesnt have to worry with projectiles and has a free in, plus, huge damage/range command grab and good normals. People sleep on her.

As a Gief main I believe she is my worst matchup. I cant do anything about her getting stocks, and her buttons are just better than mines. Not to mention she gets a 50/50 on every hit basically against me. Been that way since release.

As a Lily main, big props to Chakotay for winning, but I don't think she's making any major shifts in the tier list. Like, I read through the patch notes for Lily a day before Combo Breaker, and I don't think Chakotay even used any buffs more than once per set besides wakeup drive reversal. I feel like it was more Luke getting nerfed and everybody still adjusting to their changes that helped ElChakotay win. The credit due feels like it goes 80% to him, 5% to Lily, and 15% to other people not being their best.

The lv 1 buff and wake-up drive reversal are probably her biggest buffs. Capcom wants Lily players to use more of her kit but they need to improve those buttons. Aside from crouching and back heavy heavy punch their either long range but lose to DI with low rewards or too stubby to use outside of spire block strings. I want to use drive rush medium kick more, It's a nice frame trap with both her jab and command grab but it just needs more range. Her medium punches feel like they should be a key part of her kit but they're almost unusable against players who are willing to DI unless you have lv 1 for her crouching medium.

The parry nerf is a command grab buff. Bigger range against parry means you don't want to parry even when you're safe from normal grab.

Biggest buff for Lily is the Wake Up Drive Reversal mechanic, Elchakotay utilized it flawlessly man. He beat 3 Lukes to win this tournament Think about that haha.

Punk I need advice, few things I need help with are... 1. Best way to learn combos 2 On PS5 what is the best Controller / Stick / Fightpad I can use, I have PS5 Edge I have Octa Pad and Fight Stick but always resort back to controller because when I get a decent player it's too hard to learn the others 3 I keep using drive rush and every time I do the opponent is able to time ands just use their own yet I can't seem to do it in return 4 I notice on pad I keep using anti air when I don't want to and keep getting punished 5 finally I notice top players no matter how much I block it seems like I can't block anything they do. I can buy a brook converter and play with anything you suggest also is a leverless fight stick worth getting can it actually give you an advantage ?

Crosscutting can be really tricky to pull off. I'm still working on it myself and I am far off from getting it consistently. At least there are some good tutorials on youtube for learning/practicing crosscuts. Best of luck

Noahs worst missplay imo. Was jumping back instead of nuetral jumping when expecting a command grab. The main deterant of your opponent attempting a command grab, is you nuetral jumping, you also get a full combo of you guess right. When you jump back, your oppnent is not deterred from attempting commamd grabs because theres no punishment for guessing wrong.

I know that most consider Lily low tier and I get it, but she gives me a lot of problems because she has the CRAZIEST Heavy anti air that you can never cross up, and she just has enough tools to trouble you. She’s a mid range player that has a Honda/Blanka like torpedo, but then she has a command grab like a grappler. On the flip side she seems to have good walk speed though. Just weird

Elchacotey mentioned that none of Lily's buffs were used in his run. And if they were used they were unintentional. It was more of his play, and not the season 2 buffs, that got him the wins.
