I told washington fans that their offense wasn’t a legit threat to us. Yes Penix should’ve won heisman and those receivers will play on sundays but a pocket passer with no run threat is exactly the buckeye offense that we brought in our coordinators to stop. I predicted michigan by double digits but want to shout out the huskies on a great season🎉
@mickinmich887710 ай бұрын
I agree except, I do not think the Heisman should be awarded before the bowl games. I think there should be a element of winning, and winning outside of the player's conference. A team could run up stats in the games vs weaker teams. And a Heismen winner should not opt out of a bowl game, that is quitting on your team, not Heisman worthy. I am in no way promoting JJ McCarthy for the trophy, but he did sit out the entire 4th quarter of at least two games. QBs and RBs thrive because of good offensive lines, they get little or no credit. And the differences in the leagues can make stats unreliable. Heck, the PAC 12 is dissolving. Would a great leagues dissolve like that?

Michigan’s defense won the game. And as far as the Heisman, and I am a Michigan fan, Marvin Harrison, Junior was the best player in college football. He will be one of the grades in the NFL go blue.

As for the 4th and 7 that you start discussing around the 18:00 mark: the receiver was fine; the throw was high. The bad throw might have been influenced by the fact that the Michigan rush was getting close - despite rushing only 4 - causing Penix to rush his throw.

Great vid. Jesse Minter was the MVP of the game. I listened to Brock Huard (commentator for the Seahawks and Huskies out in Seattle). He said Michigan's secondary hits harder and is more aggressive than what he see with the Seahawks. The PAC has been, for many years, a joke on defense. You cannot constantly have scores and stats like they do (with Bo Nix and Penix leaving the SEC and B1G)....and all the sudden light it up over in the PAC. Defense is boring, but effective. Lot easier to stop a TD than score one. Rushing is boring as compared to watching highlight reel passes....but even more effective as it hogs the ball and demoralizes the opposition. I had Michigan by two scores. I won a little money. I predicted than Penix would get shut down like he did when he was in the B1G, and after watching what Michigan did to Bama....I knew they were for real. All the hype was for Penix and his WRs though. The PAC teams going to the B1G next year are in for a real treat. Go blue!

The route where Odunze came open it was because Sainristil got fooled on the exchange. The outside receiver looked like he was going to cut in in which case Sainristil takes the handoff and Johnson takes Udonze. But he ran an out meaning Sainristil should go upfield with Udonze and Johnson covers the out. You run as many exchanges as Michigan did with college kids and you’ll get it wrong from time to time. Hell, pro teams f that up. It’s why most colleges don’t run such complicated coverages and why great teams were so confused by their defense.

UM "shutdown" Penix the same way ASU did twice and WSU. It isn't too complicated. When Penix is having an off day he throws high and behind his receivers. Add in just a little pressure and he gets nervous to where he starts missing reads, forces bad balls, and gets out of sync with his receivers. From the start of the game you could see Penix was going to have an off day. UW overcame several games this season when this happened by leaning on Dillon Johnson. Unfortunately, DJ running at 50%, our RB1 our for the season, and KDB seemingly unable to develop a legitimate #2 back left us without anything to lean on in the Natty when Penix was having an off day. The receivers got open, there were open lanes for a healthy RB, but neither Penix nor DJ could capitalize. In short, the opportunity for UW to win was there but they couldn't take it. Honestly, I would have rather seen Dylan and Nixon in the 2nd half after Penix through an INT from getting stepped on. Dylan has less of a deep ball than Penix but is solid on short to intermediate and has more legs. Of course, it is alot asking for the coach to take out the 2 star players he brought in that were part of UW's success, even when injured. Those first 2 drives by UW's defense were 🤦🏼♂️, but then they did what I was expecting and shut UM out for 2.5 quarters. No disrespect to UM. They were a good team and earned their Natty by showing up when it mattered. I still think the Texas game was more challenging than the Michigan game. Texas would have wiped the floor with UW if they played in that game like they did vs Michigan. Side note: that UM DT is the real deal.

I told everyone Michigan was built too Washington, Michigan defense was designed to beat osu. Especially with cj Strouds at qb , with all those top end wide receivers. Yes Michigan didn't get home with the pass rush but if u get Michael off his spot he isn't as accurate or effective throwing the ball. Ppl dont remember Michigan played Washington back in 2021. Couple changes here and there but pretty much the same defense and the same Defensive concept, i believe once jim Harbaugh switch to that pro style Baltimore defense. Michigan has only lost 3 games in 3 years. 40-3 , thats the 2nd best record in the span. The problem i see is no one took Michigan seriously. Maybe because they play a heavy run game and relay on defense, it is old school and isn't spread offense with 4 or 5 wide receiver sets. It might not be sexy to some. But Michigan had the top 3 rating games this year, Alabama vs michigan was the highest at 27 million views, ppl where pissed that the sec wasn't in championship game, but it was the 2nd most watched college football game this year at 25 million views,
@jakeMontejo327210 ай бұрын
💯. Was saying the same thing - they played a better offense with more elite talent last year and it was AT OSU. Michigan’s defense never got the same pub the way their offense did the last few years. Take Minter away, this team doesn’t win as many games, or the Natty. Michigan will always get more eyes than Bama/Georgia/LSU, they have an immense alumni base and just more casual fans based on regional population. You can make an argument that they can pull more than Texas because the state has more college options where Michigan is a silo. The SEC has better talent, that’s indisputable but college football is regional. Always has been, always will be.

Since freshman year he has thrown it up for grabs but his receivers were better at UDub and bail him out. It caught up to him this time. He will be an NFL bust unless he makes better decisions with the ball.

@@LockedInIntel But that, for the most part, is not what you did. You over-emphasized the Washington mistakes in those situations...just like everyone did when they played PSU, OSU, Iowa and Alabama. How often does this have to happen before this defense gets credited for effecting those outcomes? And while you did give them credit the predominant insinuations were that the opponent just made too many mistakes. For 15 games this year the critics had "if" after "if" after "if" and this is what your observations turned into-for a significant amount of the time. This game cannot be played to perfection and I don't expect any casual fan of the game to understand the realities here-relative to Michigan. You clearly do not know much about Michigan's play this season. If you are interested in understanding more of the "whys" and "hows" just go listen to Sainristil, Jenkins and Johnson interview. Your discussion of the 4th and 7 play (starting around 16:30) incomplete pass to the right corner - goes into detail for almost five minutes about everything Washington did wrong to mess up a great play call. You completely ignore the fact that four Michigan rushers (#32 Barrett is a LB!) immediately collapse Washington’s 7-man pocket, forcing Penix Jr. to force a poor pass before his receiver was expecting it. This was a college defense for the history books. You might even learn the names of some of the players on the defense before making a video about the game and team. It would certainly help your analysis, and be appreciated by your audience. Thank You for the breakdown. Go Blue.

@@carlwilliams3260 Sam Webb has Vance Bedford, a great retired DC, review the Michigan defensive play every week. He is amazed by this Michigan defense-that is coordinated by Jesse Minter. He cannot say enough good things about their secondary play. His assessment of their great play revolves around their ability to confuse both the QB and the WRs-so much so that seemingly easy throws are missed to even wide open receivers. On that wide open Odunze play he stops/sits in the open space and Penix has him continuing the route-misses him by 5+ yards.
