How did species evolve?

What drives the evolution of species? How does species diversity grow and how is it maintained? Over the last 200 years, scientists have put a lot of effort into answering those questions. But only recently, with the development of new genome technologies, quantitative testing of macroevolutionary hypotheses has become possible. This video explains how statistics combined with stochastic modelling is able to generate insight in the mysterious emergence of biological diversity.

@@rena-qk7bw my question was how...DNA is DNA... the DNA is different in different species. Where is the evidence that there were enough mutations to transform a creature into another creature?

@@wiltonpt1 relatedness of each organism' DNA. Our DNA is 98.8% identical to chimpanzees and 96% on apes, 90% with elephants, dogs, and mice, 70% to slugs, 50% to banana As you can see as the evolution branch out, the genetics go further too, but it will never be different, it will always carry the same genes even the first organism that was made. Plus+ look at the morphology of animals. Those that are more related have the same morphology like pelvis of whales and monkeys, or arms of bats and cats. We also have a fossil record to prove this. Even our embyotic formation has a say about this where what we look like when we are fetus does look like other animals, we even have a tail and gills! Geography also agrees with this because those that are found where nuts grow have finches with hard beaks while those nearby areas with worms have finches with cute beaks but they are related around 99% to each other. You can also see this RAPIDLY through artificial selection IN PLANTS. You can make a hybrid of plant and it is very useful especially to make an efficient food source. Basically evolution wasn't just a theory, it is a collection of statement that explains how humans are like this now.

@@DeathItself123 Just because something looks like something else doesn't mean they are the same. The so-called gills that you're referring to, develop into ears, which is a totally different thing from gills. The genome of a human baby does not possess the DNA to create gills. Just because something in development has a similar shape to something else, does not prove that we have a common ancestor. And as it goes for finches, Yes they totally have different beaks depending on the location. The difference is they have the information (DNA) in their genome to create different beaks. Same thing for plants in the Brassica family, the information is there, and certain attributes are magnified based on environment. But cabbage does not have the information to grow a tomato, and a finche does not have the information to produce a duck, much less a cow. And to touch on the fact that all living things have similar DNA. Just because something has DNA similar to another thing does not mean that they developed from the same thing. It only proves that they use similar code, to make up a living organization.

If this hypothesis is actually true what will human change into in the next 3MY? Do humans intend to change? Or extinct? Huh funny!

Thats entirly determaned by alot of different circumstances. Evolution isnt a hypothesis. Its a proven theory backed by facts. If you werent so ignorant you would know that intent has nothing to do with evolution.

Evolution only happens when there’s a need for it. As of now we are at the dominant species on this planet and we don’t have any major reason to evolve into something as of now. Maybe in future with new reasons, we’ll evolve.

funny how they developed incredibly complex and appear to be intelligently designed. Could it be that they were designed? Could it be that we were created the way we are, just like everything else? Mature and developed, having the appearance of being old. Everything had to come from somewhere, God is the only explanation. It was either Magic from nowhere or God. I choose God

@@William51115 Are you joking? or did you only study Christianity in biblical school? You do realize what evolution does yea? Its "designed" this way because those are the designs that let each specific species flourish.

@@nuRLE What they are teaching you is not true. Evolution is a lie and there is no evidence except a change within the same kinds of animals. Everything else is not science. Science is what we can observe. You should watch Kent Hovind's Creation seminar. You will learn the truth about everything.
