I admired Doohan as a teenager in the 90's and still do today, Bloody Champion!!!

I did too and I think the reason is that for me he represents the epitome of what an Australian champion should be. Fiercely competitive and dominant and also humble and self depreciating. Whenever Mick won he would always use the term "we" at press conferences when referring to his efforts. When he lost he would accept the responsibility personally.

You have an awesome podcast bro. You’re a very intelligent interviewer! I’m gonna subscribe despite hearing that nauseating “Gypsy GANG” at the end

I rate this man up there with Senna....the machines they tamed or learned too live with were monsters....MONSTERS....sorry but i don't believe for a moment that the racers/drivers of today would of being willing too take the risk that was all too real.....different breed of rider/driver...End Of.

First Grandprix I race marshalled was in 1989. After practice we would walk the tyre blacklines which where up to 400m long. They where horrible sqiggly things where you could see the rider had serious problems controlling grip with the 500s. You would wonder how they kept it upright. Now motogp bikes generally create smooth black arcs from 4 stroke torque and electronics. More like flat track. Top racers in the 90s could destroy a new set of tyres in less than 12 laps if they wanted to. ..

Have heard old stories about Mick's golf cart precision driving on the pontoons at Hamo. Wasn't there so can't confirm or deny. Suffice to say the phone cam era would have made it less fun.

I wanted to do what Doohan did. Just coin that held me back. Not cheap road racing.

Me too! No coin. Oh, and I was slow too...

Gardiner and Doohan certainly had no money. They had talent, determination and scar tissue.

America media blows #ss. They only cover football, basketball etc. Take a fan of that and let them watch these guys race close up they will be hooked because its the speed, the guts to do it, the sound, and the smell of the fuel. NOTHING like Motorcycle racing.

We need to start getting the various reaction channels on KZbin to watch supercross, some of these channels have seen supercross crashes, but never actual races or battles between riders
