@@Bell_plejdo568p No. It's not. The Moroccan who helped the King to become a Muslim was Abul Barakat Yusuf & He's from Maghrib ( that's what our historical texts found here says. He even died here & is buried here as well. Even in his tomb, it's written as he's from "maghrib" & in our school books, it says he's from Morocco. The Somali merchant you mentioned came years after this thing happened & also even after İbn batuta . He came when we were already Muslims.

A somali king used to rule in Maldives & during that time many Somali origin people came here and settled here & married to locals and stuff happened. in Maldives, they're not just somalis, lots of Arabs, Malays came here and settled here as well. In Maldives, we don't really have a specific race called Maldivian or something. We are mixed race. The main ethnic groups present here according to historians are Sri Lankans Arabs, Somalis, Persians & Malays. But we all call ourself Maldivians and here we don't really measure our ethnic group of things like that because that doesn't really matter. You can find a lot of somali looking maldivians, Sri Lankan looking Maldivians, Malay looking Maldivians & even khaleeji looking Maldivians. It's pretty normal to see it here
