The destruction of Baghdad in 1258 was a devastating event in the history of the city and the Islamic world. Right, the mongols had one of the most effective armies in human history. And some very formidable generals like Subutai. He annihilated a Rus army with about 80.000 or more soldiers with only 23.000 mounted soldiers in 1223 near the Kalka river in what is today Sibiria. and this attack was only a recon expedition - the real invasion came in the 1240ies, leaving kiev and other rus city states in flames.

The correction being that Genghis Khan and Timur were not the same people, but relatives and rivals. Hulagu, as rightfully portrayed in video, belonged to Genghis Khan branch. This is why I loved the old Assassin’s Creed games and why I love the new one, Mirage, because they take inspiration from the real cities in which the games take place. Although he destroyed Baghdad, he kept many Muslims in his entourage, including scholars, doctors,scientists, advisors,and servants.. The cause of his stroke and epilepsy, as he was barking like dogs, was because the successive defeats and setbacks against Berke Khan, the Muslim leader and when Hulagu died, the Mongols performed a rare pagan ritual by slaughtering a Mongol child and putting his blood in his body.

Hulagu's kindness to Nestorian Christians had a good impact in future. Many of them used that priceless learning and they preserved many of them and through them they got into Europe and that key materials made a great impact on future knowledge.

@@wololocute nah nalanda wasn't a university by any definition.sure it was a good learning point in the area but not much for the normal people. First university on the planet by it's true definition was Al qarawyiin in fez Morocco,the first in Europe was in Bologna,Italy
