Magnetic anomaly detectors can pick up a submarine just by the presence of a large metal tube in the ocean alone due to the infinitesimally small effect it has on the earth's magnetic field. Can you imagine how easy it is for them to pick up on a submarine with actual superconducting magnets on board? It would be child's play.

Actually Yamato One had a speed of 27 knots, which is rather good for a shit, it is a tiny bit slower than american destroyers

@@Nightrapture The boat WAS an experiment. Which why that other guy laughed at you. It was a technology testbed, not a commercially mature product. All new designs start somewhere. The fascination with MHD's is largely a military one. They have no moving parts, so they generate no propeller noise. As the man explained at the end, the giant magnetic field gave them away to aircraft with a magnetic anomaly detector. It's interesting tech to play with but it's unlike any practical applications will be found.
