It's a small detail but Voldemort, as a master manipulator, was probably aware of the psychological impact his army of undead would have on his enemies. The Inferi, along with his near immortality, would paint the Dark Lord as someone who has conquered death itself.

I've always assumed that since it was experimental magic he ofcourse had to crack the code, which he did. Kidnapped muggles to make them, as a side effect of making them he found that they were difficult to control and therefore not practical for his purposes (as an army). Best he could do was to bind them one at a time to stay in the lake and guard it.

Regarding the potion in the cave, it’s called “the drink of despair” and Voldemort borrowed Kreacher from Regulus to test it out. Remember “Kreacher’s Tale” in the Deathly Hallows? Also check out Potter wiki.

I have a theory. Gryffindor implanted his memories and personality into the sorting hat. (I even think the hat speaks with his voice) Kind of like the portraits that act like the person the painting is depicting. If he didn’t make the sorting hat that way that means he just made a living, mind reading, immortal, sentient creature. That would have to be one of the most powerfully created magical artifacts in this universe.

To me he didn't bring them here, the cave was around for a long while before Voldemort even discovered it as a child. It's described as having a very dangerous opening that sucks water in. My hypothesis : for years, centuries, this cave has caused many deaths of people swimming around that place. It really caught Voldemort's attention because it is naturally a place of death, despair and loss. Idk I find it way more cool and badass than thinking he killed people and sent them in the cave lol. "Ah good day today, that's 12 Inferi more for the cave!"

I believe that while in zombie pop culture says of an infection if ur bitten or scratch, here it's just of being killed by 1. If an inferi drowns, stabs, or even shoots u, you'll become an inferi right then and there with out the creator having to do so. Anything by an inferi hands. But you'll still have to serve the creator who started the whole thing. They can survive fire u say, well not if burned ti ashes. Grindelwald did create 1 with the qilin in TSoD, but not as powerful as Voldemort since it expired.

Rowling was never completely clear on how inferi are created just that it’s a dark ritual of some kind and we know that spells don’t die with the caster, so I’m assuming that those inferi will always be there until they clear them out or undo it somehow

Voldemort is an evil man so he probably killed muggles for the sake of filling up the lake rather than to race against time to convert corpses into inferi. Rather than to kill one or two magic users at a time Voldemort probally went to muggle gatherings such as parties & killed them all at the same time to convert them into inferi. If you did that then it wouldn't be that difficult to build up the number of inferi, especially with the use of port keys to transport inferi/bodies to the lake. Maybe I'm more industrial than Voldemort. With a gathering such as rave party you could easily kill a few hundred muggles, it's just a matter of getting away with the crime.

I always assumed that they were always in the cave, that was why Voldemort chose the cave in the first place as only he was powerful enough to bend them to his will and knew the horcrux would be well protected regardless of if anyone found the location or not.

After watching your video, since you postulated that the Infiri were his backup in case he was loosing the war on a physical front, perhaps they're more than that. Tell me, what 'enemy' has wizarding kind always faced that could defeat them with sheer numbers? Muggles. If you ask me, his Infiri army would have been his measure to take over the muggle world in force if they didn't bow to him willingly in time. And honestly that's a terrifying prospect. Not even magic can destroy them, would our weapons have a prayer? And for those who say 'nuke em', they're already skeletal corpses. I don't think they care about radiation (tho the main blast would annihilate some of them). So yeah. My theory, an unstoppable 'zombie' army to overwhelm muggle militaries Also, one last chilling thought: every fallen soldier would be just one more Infiri.

Same area of the sea not far from Azkaban, Ekrizdis created the cave, Voldemort modified it for his own purpose. Tom Riddle lured 2 students there and both were terrified by something they would never speak of so it existed already. Ekrizdis > Voldemort

I don't think Slytherin would vibe with Voldemort AT ALL. Slytherin didn't want to murder Half-Bloods or Muggle-Borns, nor did he want to jeopardize his school. Slytherin was a friend (and a good one at that) to the other founders. He didn't want the school to teach non-Pure-Bloods, and he thought their was value in teaching darker forms of magic; these two as I think about it are the main points of contention as to why Slytherin left the school. I have personally never seen Slytherin as a dark wizard... he was kind of a shithead, but there's no way he would have ever had respect from the other founders if he was anything like Voldemort.
