Last week I posted on social media that I was so happy to make my neighbors happy when little did I know we would be doing Shelter in Place and the racial division going on, I was so happy to make my neighbors smile. Regarding the snakes, if they are garden snakes they are HARMLESS! Please don’t kill them! In fact garden snakes are a sign of a healthy garden ecosystem. They help keep bug populations under control. I get so discouraged when I hear about people killing their garden snakes. It’s good for the garden and they are harmless, and they also tend to stay really small!

Corrie Donovan - Soprano agree don’t kill snakes! In Australia a lot of our snakes we find in our garden are very venomous as most have been pushed out of their natural habitat due to suburban development. For us here, even when in doubt about their venom, they actually need to be professionally removed. They are then released back into the wild. No harm comes to them then.

GroBucket is a self-watering insert sold that I use and they use the dowel & cork for water level. (Edited to add: I just looked on Amazon and they now use a label holder and plastic water indicator stick now on the water reservoir. The ones I bought in early Spring had a cork on the bottom of a dowel with painted indicator lines. They have worked fine for me so something similarly constructed for using in your Aquapots would work I would think.)

I finally built a 3x6 raised bed this year and I used 6 "H cement blocks" at the corners to hold two 12 inch height redwood planks together which made it 24 in deep. The blocks are easy to find (got mine at home depot) and super inexpensive. It works SO WELL. While it still required a few screws for four 2x4s nailed to the inside (stability) and two 2x6s, two 2x3s for the top railings, it was so fast and required ZERO wood cutting etc. Also nice because If I ever move, I CAN TAKE IT ALL WITH ME! Sorry landlord but you dont get to keep my garden stuff. HEHE. After building it, it was a little larger than a 3x6, more like 4x7 with the H cement blocks, so if you do this project, keep that in mind! Also, I JUST BOUGHT 2 David Austin roses in 2 quart containers! Cant wait to get them!

Thank You for your knowledge. It has given me so much confidence to tackle planters. Also choosing plants for proper light exposure. I was reminded of the knowledge I have gained from watching what you do this Spring. My Granddaughter wanted to learn how to grow flowers. Her Dad has done a bit of gardening and knows how but she asked Grandma. I helped her pick and design her flowerbeds just for her. She was thrilled with the choices we made. We used it as a learning experience for her educational year. This year has been so stressful for each school aged child. It gave her something to be responsible for with caring, planting watering. Sports were cancelled and they couldn’t do normal summer activities. It gave me a very proud moment to see her so excited about her colour choices. She lives close by but we couldn’t visit. She took me out to the flowers after planting and gave me a video tour. This has been a great outcome from a difficult time. Thank you

An irrigation video would be awesome and very helpful. I'm just starting to convert my garden to drip and any tips would be gratefully appreciated. I've watched every irrigation video you've made several times, too. Thank you for all of the wonderful content. You both are inspirations and I have never enjoyed gardening more since I found your channel in August 2019. Congratulations!

Just love all your videos, makes me happy to watch every morning! I do have a question, how do you fertilize every week? I don't remember seeing this process and I can't wrap by head around how you manage to do that. Any chance you can do a video?

Amme Mahler search garden answer fertilizer. They have several but one shows how they have a tank trailer set up to do the weekly fertilizing.

The float system as a water level indicator you spoke of is part of the self watering pot reservoirs that convert regular pots into self watering. They are available through Gardeners Supply. Very reasonable and work on different size pots. A great alternative if the beautiful ceramic pots from Proven Winners aren’t available locally.

Yes! PLEASE do an irrigation video. In the past, insufficient coverage has held me back from planting new areas. I'm doing more and more on my own and would love to have a tutorial from yáll.

Hi Laura, One way to measure the water in an aqua pot is to use a dowl stick premeasured before you plant it up, make a mark on the stick of where the water line is. Then insert the stick into the pot before you water and see where the water line is. Much like how gas stations measure their fuel tankers. If you have more then one size of pot you can make more than one mark on the dowl and label them so you know which pot is which line.

Hi Laura, I am agreeing with a lot of the comments below in that you are such an inspiration! I live in England on the Wirral and stumbled across your channel quite by chance last year when looking for ideas for a flowerbed make-over having just moved into my new home. Since then, I have become an avid follower of your KZbin videos and have learnt so much from you as I was, and still am, a novice to gardening. I now love my garden, my favourite pastime, although quite small in comparison to your own, it has become a passion with me and provides me with so much joy. I lose track of time now hen I am in the garden. I was so proud of a tall container I planted up last year after watching your vid on planting up patio containers with lemoncello supertunia, creeping jenny and an evergreen shrub in each. I had so many comments on these and it was something I did after watching your video and following your ideas. Absolutely beautiful! Your garden is absolutely beautiful and you and Aaron work so hard in creating these wonderful videos. You are such lovely people and little Benjamin is adorably cute bless him. Such a lovely family. God bless you all and thank you again for the fantastic inspiration and please keep up your wonderful work! Take care, Sarah

I don't think I could walk away from the espalier pear tree! I am absolutely infatuated with espalier. Early this spring I purchased 2 apple whips and a fig tree to train. Lots of time, effort and, most of all, patience. Wish me luck, I'm gonna need it.

My husband was determined to put drip irrigation in our vegetable garden this year. It sounded just like you and your husband in the new garden... wherever you water there will be weeds. It took us about 3 weeks to work out our differences,( we are both very stubborn). Finally I showed him how you ran the drip in one of your beds and we finally got it done. Thanks for some guidance. Aaron should definitely do a watering video!

Dear Laura and Aaron, I just found your channels at the beginning of the “shut-down”. I have to say that your energy, knowledge and example have been SO inspiring to me! I watch all your new videos and need to go back and binge old ones. I have a small city yard that has languished in the past several years and when I retired a couple of years ago, I should have been devoting time to it, but just couldn’t get motivated. Now, I’m out there every day, digging, pruning, weeding, planning and dreaming. I haven’t wanted to go to any nurseries since I’m in a “high-risk” group, so no new plants yet...except 4 small pots in my front yard that my son planted up for me for Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to implement some of my planting plans. Thank you for the inspiration...you are a delight to watch! Blessings! ❤️
