Don't ever question that what you do isn't worth it or isn't making a difference. U encourage people all across the world with your knowledge about gardening and plants, your enthusiasm, your down-to-earth and incredibly sweet personality, and your beautiful family. We all get gardening know-how from you, but even if we didn't, just watching your videos allows us to slow down, take a few minutes, and just breathe. Watching your vids is one of the highlights of my day. Thank you both! 😍

I am in my 70s and I found that my hands are not as strong as I would like them to be and putting a drip system together was almost impossible for me............ UNTIL.... I saw a video that suggested having a cup of boiling water and you put the tubes into the water for a few seconds And then they will push right into the connections. That has made it so much easier! Love your videos

Here is a compliment: I am a first year gardener that was oh so inspired by your tulip planting I planted a few hundred in my front yard. Last week I posted on social media that I was so happy to make my neighbors happy when little did I know we would be doing Shelter in Place and the racial division going on, I was so happy to make my neighbors smile. One neighbor replied and said she took photos and brought the photos to her 85 year old grandmother that she provides care for and grandma loved them. That was the most beautiful thing I could have read. Thanks Laura!!!!!!

Miranda Beaudry I’m doing a 3000 gallon tank. We average around 40 inches of rain a year but have very hot summers, mild winters and seem to skip over spring and fall...so I should have plenty of water for the entire property. I plan to use a well pump with a pressure tank to get the water out of the reservoir and keep the pump from working too much.

Regarding the snakes, if they are garden snakes they are HARMLESS! Please don’t kill them! In fact garden snakes are a sign of a healthy garden ecosystem. They help keep bug populations under control. I get so discouraged when I hear about people killing their garden snakes. It’s good for the garden and they are harmless, and they also tend to stay really small!

Snakes are soo beneficial for your garden ecosystem, and they "patrol" my yard and garden spaces. Never had a mouse in my house in the fifteen years we have lived here. Corrie Donovan - Soprano agree don’t kill snakes! In Australia a lot of our snakes we find in our garden are very venomous as most have been pushed out of their natural habitat due to suburban development. For us here, even when in doubt about their venom, they actually need to be professionally removed. They are then released back into the wild. No harm comes to them then.

GroBucket is a self-watering insert sold that I use and they use the dowel & cork for water level. (Edited to add: I just looked on Amazon and they now use a label holder and plastic water indicator stick now on the water reservoir. The ones I bought in early Spring had a cork on the bottom of a dowel with painted indicator lines. They have worked fine for me so something similarly constructed for using in your Aquapots would work I would think.)

Hi Laura and Aaron! This was another great Q&A! That was a sweet story about how your parents met and having the café rebuilt on their property. One idea on the irrigation video, since you've already shown most of it in different videos, would be to, if possible, "copy and paste" them into a separate video and "fill in" the blanks. Otherwise it would be a tremendous amount of work and time, especially considering everything else you do/are planning to do. Just a thought..... Thank you so much for sharing!

I have been an AVID fan of Laura/Aaron/Benjamin/Russell/Cheddar AND your whole property ever since. I look forward every day to seeing what new project you have cooked up (your cooking sections aren't bad either). I am not a gardener (black thumb I think cause I kill plastic plants), but I LOVE, LOVE, LOVE a beautiful garden and I love to virtually get lost on your property and just enjoy all your wonderful creations. If you have swallows (the birds, house martin swallow) in your area, you could attach a row of at least 2-4 round nest boxes under the eaves. And with a bit distance a board under it for the excrements. The swallow look very pretty when the fly so fast and they have often problems to find material for natural nest-building.

I finally built a 3x6 raised bed this year and I used 6 "H cement blocks" at the corners to hold two 12 inch height redwood planks together which made it 24 in deep. The blocks are easy to find (got mine at home depot) and super inexpensive. It works SO WELL. While it still required a few screws for four 2x4s nailed to the inside (stability) and two 2x6s, two 2x3s for the top railings, it was so fast and required ZERO wood cutting etc. Also nice because If I ever move, I CAN TAKE IT ALL WITH ME! Sorry landlord but you dont get to keep my garden stuff. HEHE. After building it, it was a little larger than a 3x6, more like 4x7 with the H cement blocks, so if you do this project, keep that in mind! Also, I JUST BOUGHT 2 David Austin roses in 2 quart containers! Cant wait to get them!

Because of you, my garden is beautiful! You have given me the confidence to not be afraid to move a plant, try something new, tackle budworm! You have provided me with the knowledge and know-how that I needed to be successful and fill in blank spaces. I talk about you and Aaron as though you are my besties. I try and find silver linings in each and every day especially during this pandemic. The gift of time has allowed us to sit and actually enjoy our veggie and flower gardens besides just working in them. I am so grateful for your channel as I start or end my day getting inspiration from you and your next new project! Heartfelt Thank You!

Yes Aaron! Please do a video on drip and sprinklers! Would love to hear all you’ve learned over the years. Would also love to hear if you have any recommendations for other types of soils/climates compared to yours. I’m in Austin with clay soil and more humidity and a little concerned about overwatering, but’s it’s so hot as of this week, not too worried. Lol. Just started watching your channel and gardening in the landscape this year. I’ve added 8 flower beds in addition to tweaking the 2 existing beds at my new house since watching your channel, and I’ve added drip everywhere. Want to tackle sprinklers next year. Not much grass left at this point. :) Thank you so much for helping me in my gardening journey! I can’t imagine doing this without your channel.

Wow Aaron .... you could save me a lot of time and frustration ..... I will say that I have beds that are as much as ten feet apart and that I live in central Ohio so that we do get a freeze or two ... so will need to know how to prepare for that ..... Thank You for all of the hard work that you and Laura do ..... I am sure that it is rewarding for both of you .... However do know that Garden Answer is a God sent for many of us ..... Hugs ..... Thank You for your knowledge. It has given me so much confidence to tackle planters. Also choosing plants for proper light exposure. I was reminded of the knowledge I have gained from watching what you do this Spring. My Granddaughter wanted to learn how to grow flowers. Her Dad has done a bit of gardening and knows how but she asked Grandma. I helped her pick and design her flowerbeds just for her. She was thrilled with the choices we made. We used it as a learning experience for her educational year. This year has been so stressful for each school aged child. It gave her something to be responsible for with caring, planting watering. Sports were cancelled and they couldn’t do normal summer activities. It gave me a very proud moment to see her so excited about her colour choices. She lives close by but we couldn’t visit. She took me out to the flowers after planting and gave me a video tour. This has been a great outcome from a difficult time. Thank you

Yes, yes, yes! Aaron, please put together a video highlighting the many things that you have learned during your installation and utilization of irrigation! I know it will be daunting, but Oh! so appreciated!! I am desperate for irrigation, and have at least a couple of acres that will, Lord willing, eventually be included. We are on a well, we have a pond, but we haven't a clue how to best utilize them. Thank you so much!

The float system as a water level indicator you spoke of is part of the self watering pot reservoirs that convert regular pots into self watering. They are available through Gardeners Supply. Very reasonable and work on different size pots. A great alternative if the beautiful ceramic pots from Proven Winners aren’t available locally.

Hi Laura, One way to measure the water in an aqua pot is to use a dowl stick premeasured before you plant it up, make a mark on the stick of where the water line is. Then insert the stick into the pot before you water and see where the water line is. Much like how gas stations measure their fuel tankers. If you have more then one size of pot you can make more than one mark on the dowl and label them so you know which pot is which line.

Hi Laura, I am agreeing with a lot of the comments below in that you are such an inspiration! I live in England on the Wirral and stumbled across your channel quite by chance last year when looking for ideas for a flowerbed make-over having just moved into my new home. Since then, I have become an avid follower of your KZbin videos and have learnt so much from you as I was, and still am, a novice to gardening. I now love my garden, my favourite pastime, although quite small in comparison to your own, it has become a passion with me and provides me with so much joy. I lose track of time now hen I am in the garden. I was so proud of a tall container I planted up last year after watching your vid on planting up patio containers with lemoncello supertunia, creeping jenny and an evergreen shrub in each. I had so many comments on these and it was something I did after watching your video and following your ideas. Absolutely beautiful! Your garden is absolutely beautiful and you and Aaron work so hard in creating these wonderful videos. You are such lovely people and little Benjamin is adorably cute bless him. Such a lovely family. God bless you all and thank you again for the fantastic inspiration and please keep up your wonderful work! Take care, Sarah

My husband was determined to put drip irrigation in our vegetable garden this year. It sounded just like you and your husband in the new garden... wherever you water there will be weeds. It took us about 3 weeks to work out our differences,( we are both very stubborn). Finally I showed him how you ran the drip in one of your beds and we finally got it done. Thanks for some guidance. Aaron should definitely do a watering video!

Dear Laura and Aaron, I just found your channels at the beginning of the “shut-down”. I have to say that your energy, knowledge and example have been SO inspiring to me! I watch all your new videos and need to go back and binge old ones. I have a small city yard that has languished in the past several years and when I retired a couple of years ago, I should have been devoting time to it, but just couldn’t get motivated. Now, I’m out there every day, digging, pruning, weeding, planning and dreaming. I haven’t wanted to go to any nurseries since I’m in a “high-risk” group, so no new plants yet...except 4 small pots in my front yard that my son planted up for me for Mother’s Day. I can’t wait to implement some of my planting plans. Thank you for the inspiration...you are a delight to watch! Blessings! ❤️
