If we consider the trauma & depression our parents have went through and never had the opportunity to heal from because 'life must go on' and survival mode was their auto pilot, it makes it easier to understand (not accept or condone) why they are unsympathetic towards depressed kids. Labantu deadass saw their friends being killed but couldn't mourn/heal from that cos life simply had to go on! Let's break these curses guys 💔

@@youngbaby464 yes that's fair but when people don't address the difficulties that they've experienced this then affects their behaviours subconsciously, how they treat others and effectively results in generational trauma. It took forever for my parents to understand my depression. As a teenager they thought I was just being difficult and told me to get over it. As an adult my depression got very bad and their advice would be “exercise more, be happy!” Until it got so bad that I had a mental break down. I started doing therapy and started taking antidepressants, at first they were very against the medication, but as they saw me changing for the better they got on board. Now they bug me all the time to check that im still taking my meds.
