Winston will test free agency if they don't resign him before he is a free agent. They will lose him if he becomes a free agent. The Giants are one of the teams that wanted Winston and offered him a starting position. Winston's father, who has influence on Winston, liked the Browns roster better.

This shouldn’t even be a debate, Watson’s days as a starting QB - at least for the Browns - are over. Jameis Winston is a very good QB who has his best years ahead of him not behind him. If JW had been the starter since game one - with Amari Cooper - you can add at least 3 W’s to the column. BTW, also assume that Stefanski isn’t the play caller and who knows what would have happened. I think we all saw the consequences of Stefanski’s play calling, questionable offense strategy and declined clock/team management due to his focus on play calling (especially with a bad QB in DW). I think the problem we might be seeing is that JW and Stefanski are very different people and I’m not sure that Stefanski knows what to do with JW or how to handle his personality. To use a religion analogy, JW is like a Southern Baptist preacher, full of fire and brimstone. He also sees heaven and has a close relationship with Jesus. That’s great, we could use that. You could imagine him touching people and yelling, “you are saved”! Stefanski is a Catholic. Rote prayers and readings, same ones forever. It’s “stand-up, sit down, kneel, stand up, sit down, kneel,” and make sure you put something in the basket. Nobody comes late, nobody leaves early. Maybe, just maybe, the crowd gets a bit of guitar with the choir, that’s about the excitement level you’re going to get. Personally, I think JW is great for the Browns organization and the area. The question is, do you turn over your coaching staff to “get some more religion” in it (so to speak) so that you can have personalities align or do you find a QB who “fits in” better with the management team you have? BTW, my guess is that JW’s “glow” is not appreciated by all of the players either. Some just like it real and JW is special.

@calvertwilliamson47213 күн бұрын
@ Jameis walked onto the field with a bunch of c and d first round players. The team beat the Ravens. Lost to the Chargers which I think was Jameis’ fault. They lost to the Saints, but that was solely on a defense that could not stop three gadget play from being touchdowns. The quarterback play was elite in the game against the Saints. The Browns’ receivers are better because of Jameis’ movement in the pocket that allows him to throw at angles to get the receiver open. The offensive line is better because of Jameis’ movement in pocket. The movement and getting rid of the ball quickly is the reason that the offensive line looks so much better. Deshaun was scared behind that line. Myles Garrett is a beast when he wants to be. Next, Jameis leads the Browns to beat the Steelers in inclement weather, weather that a Steelers’ player said they could not win in. He has to continue with elite play, but he has beat some of the best teams in the league by making the players better with his play. Now the talking heads are making all kinds of excuses like Tomlin made a bad decision, the Ravens have a weak defense, yet they beat the Chargers. It is not because of his play. It is not a situation whereas Odell Beckum is open for first downs and touchdowns and Jameis cannot get the ball to him. If you give Jameis better talent and Jameis takes the smart play and not the forced play, the Browns will be in the Super Bowl.

Guys stop being so narrowminded. Jameis Winston on the Tampa Bay Buccaneers was in an offense that was changing philosophy every other year with this new head coach, and they never gave him a substantial running game to support all of the passing that they wanted him to do so he primarily played one dimensional everyone knew he was going to pass. When Tom Brady got there, they solidified the offensive line. They gave him two reasonable running backs, and they gave him the opportunity to relax the office a little bit and not be so strenuous and risky that was because Brady had several championships. James came in under 20 years old, and never got proper guidance simply thrown to the wolves. Please look at the whole picture and not your own opinionated view of a player who has been excellent on every level, but badly managed in the NFL.

People are so worried about the cap! The Browns currently have the 2nd most cap space of any team. Any unused cap space gets rolled over into 2025 plus any salary cap increases. This also doesn't account for any restructured contracts that will add more cap space. Also most of the Browns core players are under contract for years. So why all the worry!

Kevin Stefanski is finishing his 5th season as the Browns head coach, and he has had 10 different QBs start games for him! I have never been a fan of Kevin Stefanski, but there isn't a coach alive who can have any degree of success with that kind of volatility at the most important position on the team! If the Browns are bringing Kevin Stefanski back (which I personally wouldn't do), then the first priority MUST BE to stabilize the QB position. Period. With that said, with Andrew Berry and Kevin Stefanski entering next season on the hot seat, would you be willing to risk their jobs on Jameis Winston? For me, I think that they should look around and see what other options would be available first. And if some team offers Jameis Winston an absurd contract out of desperation, then let him go. He has had a nice stretch of games, but it's not like he isn't replaceable.
