Acclimatisation is the key. 3 years ago I walked 4 weeks from Dhap Bazar over Pikey Peak to Jumbesi, then to Dudh Kund, shortcut to Lukla (3rd westerner ever) went to Amphu Labtsa Phedi 5200m, skipped EBC (been there several times), on to Gokyo and crossed Renjo La to Thame. I was fast (2:30 up Renjo La, 2:15 from Monjo to Namche, etc). Year ago I climbed Aconcagua. All this was easy as I acclimate extremely fast and well. Slower acclimatisation means you need to advance slower and stop occasionally until fit enough to attempt the passes. By the way, I am 67 years old and have artificial hips on both sides... And never do any cardio training, BMI 27.

@@whereandeewent13 Not actually, I just acclimate extremely easily. On Aconcagua my oxygen saturation was 10 to 15 points better than anybody else's in the same group. Their heart rates were around 130 to 180 when hiking uphill, mine never went over 100 BPS. I was lucky in the genetic lottery, that is all.

Bad audio quality coupled with a strong dialect makes it sometimes difficult or even impossible to understand for non-native speakers.

Bro I love your video. I am doing it next month. It's gonna be challenging but I guess I wanna do it for now. The only thing I am worried about is not showering for 20 days. I have done 7 days without a shower. And also done a few hikes in india this year

Wow. It seems like you were carrying way to much stuff. I can't imagine 20 kg. I'll try to be at 10 Kg when I go next month. I did the Colorado Trail last year (~800 km) and found going light was critical.

Hi Ellis! How much can I expect to spend during the trek? (food, accomodation, etc) during the entire trek once landed Lukla? 500 USD? 1000 ? thanks a lot!! :-)

I've seen someone who did it on the cheap. She didn't take a plane to Lukla to save money. She didn't use a porter or guide. She spent $37 USD per day.
