My belief is that consciousness is fundamental, and we are spiritual beings having a human experience. After hearing hundreds of near death experiences (whom also claim that their reality was "more real" than their earthling reality), it appears as though DMT provides a temporary wormhole trip to other dimensional realities.

@@wesley6442 With respect to anything existing outside of the mind, it is true that we only have belief to go on. There is no way to prove the existence of "other dimensions", but of course there is no way to prove the existence of this one either (except to our own satisfaction, because it seems "obvious").

Great conversation! There were several badly-timed interruptions on Peter's part, where Andrew is just starting to roll up his sleeves and detail something amazing. I couldn't be an interviewer, myself, because I would surely do the same thing, more often. But it Peter will consider holding off a couple more times per interview, it'll keep us hanging happily onto every word. That aside, I enjoyed this conversation SO much and look forward to all your work to come x

9:49 I can’t stop laughing. I had to listen five times as I thought he said “escape from creditors” instead of “escape from predators”. And I realized in the current world we’re in, that’s probably the modern equivalent. We’re all trying to escape the creditors one way or another, trading our human energy and life force for money to pay creditors.

When I was a kid, I had a Commodore Amiga, and you could get a program that allowed you to interrogate any part of the computer's memory and display it as an image - including the ROM, which was the unwritable part of the Amiga that was the same on all Amigas. Mostly it would just be noise, but occasionally you would get weird patterns that made no sense to me, but looked pretty cool. (We didn't have Netflix in those days...) What if DMT is basically just doing that. It's connecting your consciousness with parts of the brain that it doesn't know how to make sense of, but it spots some patterns and tries to interpret them as best as it can. If the part of the brain that's being interrogated is a core part that all humans share by virtue of being human, that might explain why everyone has a similar experience. Or, you know... aliens...

@@dangauvreau9049 @48 yrs old (as a juvenile in the early 90s) I can remember someone talking about a drug called "T" short for THC. They reported it as being similar to L 2 5 and the dosage size about the size of a woodmatch's head. They claimed to have only seen it once. Of course I tried matching the report by smoking copious amounts of hydro (strongest thing on the market back in the day available to the gen/pop. [side note] In my circles there was Skunk and Hydro, everything else came with extra seeds and stems. Needless to say we smoked ourselves straight more times than not. We didn't know (and I still don't) know that if you ate the w e e d it was possible to surpass the effects that smoking would yield. If enough was consumed it was supposed to cause more of a trip. Unfortunely I've never charted those waters. Not even with the variety available nowadays. [back on topic] Ive never came across anything like it. Is it similar to whats referred to as dabs or dabz, or kief? I'm not a fan of cheifin out on the couch comatosed as I find myself after smoking today's varieties. **PLEASE ADVISE**

Honest question here, does that not worry or you or cause you to think that maybe.. it's all in a persons mind? so many people can have different experience when under the influence.. can it not be said it's most likely a hallucination? should we not use science and reason to determine if their truly is a message or something seeking to communicate? gather a general consensus on these experiences? it all seems a matter of personal experience and interpretation, making it stand on shaky foundations and unreliable. So are we saying in order to communicate with the unseen we need to take hallucinogenic substances, doesn't that get you questioning?

@@wesley6442 Try it for yourself. You’ll be astonished. I would start with psilocybin mushrooms and don’t fiddle with small amounts. The first experience should be a smaller dose (1 gram) The second experience should be (2-3 grams) and by the third experience (5 grams) it’s life changing in the best ways that you could’ve never imagined. For me, it pulled me out of a deep depression. I went blind in one eye, and paralysis in my left hand from a multiple sclerosis diagnosis. I spent years in a horrible depression and contemplated suicide. The mushrooms gave me a clean slate and allowed me to see the world and life in a completely different way. **Epic Content, WELL DONE!** I firmly believe a few things should be mandatory, as a right of passage, (if you will) for the youth (and adults) in America. Before your allowed to vote, drive, perhaps even procreate, in this world gone mad. At least in America, who claims to be the leader of the free world. (in no certain order) 1. Spend at least 18 months living abroad in a 3rd world country (not in N. or S. America) perhaps in the Philippines. 2. Take a few guided trips on mushrooms or their equivalent.(Upon a clean bill of mental health) I admit, trips arent for everyone, but hey, its a helluva lot better than wearing mittens made with Bullet ants. (Optional) 3. Establish a solid POV. No matter what social class you are born into, live as a a native too each class in the caste system. **I personally find it upsetting to know that there's no shortage of opportunities to become addicted to fentanyl or you're more likely to die by accidental exposure to fentanyl than find a safe steady supply of hallucinogens to get to know thyself** Again, I admit DMT is not for everyone, I aliken it to getting a drink from a firehose. It can be dangerous and should be handled with care. However, its much safer than the drugs that are becoming the #1 killer of today's youth. All this suggests one thing, Follow the money! How many DMT junkies are in our prisons? A) ZERO! Use of hallucinogens (of any kind) is closer to going to church than committing crimes! **But there's no money in warehousing psychonauts** **The only people in prisons today, as a direct result of hallucinogens, are all the victims of those caught in federal entrapment stings!** Just saying... (Edit to add ~ For those who arent sure how we got here, or want to know my opinion. The powers that be were threatened back in the days leading up to the counterculture revolution. They didn't like it when their doctrine and dogma was questioned. So they did what any deep state worth their salt would do and made them illegal. The punishment became life in prison. For two joints they tried locking up Timothy Leary up for [a long time]. Then classified as not having any medical benefit to humans. When studies showed, 1 good trip made more progress than 100s of hours spent with a shrink. I see a pattern. That's their preferred method of subjugating the debtslaves)

@@Chimpsquat Maybe. That`s a possible way to see it and it does indeed make a lot of sense. What slightly annoys me is that a lot of the people who come to this "new look" still insist on holding on to very simplistic not sufficiently complex ideas of religion and religious people. For a lot of such people a "religious attitude" seems almost identical to the views of Midwest-US Evangelicals or Wahhabi Muslim essentialists, something one can easily feel superior to. While there still are plenty of religious traditions (even within the monotheisms Christianity and Islam) that are far more complex and rich in meaning, beauty and philosophical depths. In another podcast interview I actually heard Andrew Gallimore compare his DMT experiences and research insights to ages old Hindu Vedanta ideas. He could also have compared them to Christian theosophists like Meister Eckhart or Jakob Böhme, or to the writings of some Muslim Sufi masters. It`s all there. But in many ways religion has actually trounced itself, no? By marginalizing all of this and then giving birth to all of these modern abominations of scripture literalism and fundamentalism.

Andrew comes from a very mainstream position regarding consciousness, his training and education provides the theoretical framework for this. But if consciousness was not a construction of chemistry in the brain, but a result of the brain tuning into it, the replication of similar experiences among different cultures could be explained. The molecule would then be a key into a different tuning of consciousness, a separate channel where these entities reside, rather than the 'usual' conscious experience our waking and dream states tune into. Until the hard question of consciousness is answered we can only speculate about what consciousness is.

There are recent results in "real-time decoding of images from brain activity" using MEG and deep learning that could be valuable in this context (an image says more than a thousand words). According to Penrose and Hameroffs Orch-Or hypothesis, consiousness is a quantum phenomenon occuring in the tubulines of the neurons cyto-skeleton. As an anesthesiologist Hameroff tells us that the mode of action of anesthetics is to turn off precisely this quantum activity while leaving normal neural function uninhibited, one could surmise that DMT and psychedelics then turn on this activity. As a quantum phenomenenon consiousness has the inherent property of being non-local, opening the door to a multitude of speculations about where the signals come from.

I've never heard of them referred to as tubulines, just microtubules. Was that a typo or another name for them? If I understand it correctly all of our cells have these tryptophan based microtubules form, which are like tunnels within cellular communication and modification, and yeah, that whole quantum based consciousness theory is pretty interesting with what they're speculating on thus far. Will be interesting to see more studies and tests funded in regards to that perspective.

Peter is asking all the right questions. It's good that he's skeptical and keeping questioning what he's experiencing. I noticed the scientist was really pretty desperately trying to find similarities of shamans of other cultures of former centuries to the reported experiences of pure DMT he is familiar with or has focused in on, whereas Peter isn't like that at all. I still don't understand how saying "reality is a model in your brain" isn't a paradox. I don't see how one would ever be able to go outside that model, and hence the idea of a model is just circular logic. The scientist interviewed is saying stuff like "we know what's real because the sensory data and the data in the brain align." But wait! The the "sensory data" is something you only know about through your model! It's still INSIDE your model. You would have no way of ever referring to something outside your model and know if it referred to anything "real." So radical Pyrrhonian skepticism still holds. You can't say anything about anything. About the ontological or epistemological status of anything. It's all circular. Only when you suspend judgment can you do anything.

Fascinating topics. Never done any psychedelic. I wonder what or if there is a connection with the subconscious. This is another area that has always seemed amazing to me. How I might have deep thoughts or questions and they will be communicated to me by “external” events, synchronicity. Also, how often external events actually contain messages that are analogous to subconscious messages that are important in the day to day life, but definitely not in an obvious linear way.

Yes it activates your subconscious mind as well as your superconscious mind. The Trinity of Minds all unify to become 'one mind' and become coherent within the Hyperspace Field of Entities. You and the Entities are 'one' whilst having this experience as they merge minds with you psychically and telepathically. They show you the unity of all things... I have done just over 100 doses of NN-DMT over a 4 year period and all I can say is "that Hyperspace Realm" is FAR, FAR more 'real' and you are FAR more lucid in that Greater Reality than anything I have ever experienced here on earth in what we term "waking consciousness." From what I personally experienced that Hyperspace Realm was the 'Greater Reality' meaning we are more 'sleeping' or 'dreaming' in our 'waking states' of consciousness here and now as compared to a far, far richer, wider, broader, more 'real' feeling multidimensional realm in DMT Hyperspace. The most BIZZARR experience I ever had was during a high dose experience when even the DMT Hyperspace Realm was "ruptured" or "torn" by GIGANTIC Extra Terrestrials made entirely of Light who all poked their three x undescribable heads in to "examine me" before stitching back up the tear in the Hyperspace Fabric to leave me to get on with the experience!! That was the last time I did DMT! That showed me this rabbit hole goes even deeper in our Fractal Hollographic Reality!! Those 4 years opened me up permanently to the Spirit Realm in so many ways. You are changed for life after just 1 dose... After 100 + doses you never ever need to touch the stuff again in your life because you can only seem to learn so much at atime before you need to integrate the information given by the Entities. I hope this helps 🙏

I really liked the thought experiment about if a person with congenital blindness could possibly gain the ability to construct a visual model of a psychedelic world, and if that happened you argue they would not be able to tell you that they are seeing something because they would have no frame of reference for what sight even is. But my first thought is how that person would likely know that they are blind, thus knowing that they experience the world with 4 out of normally 5 senses. Wouldn't that person be able to realize in that condition how they are sensing the world with a separate and unique sense compared to their normal state and then deduce that this seemingly new 5th sense must be sight, because they know it is not any of the other four senses they are used to experiencing?

Also, regarding our perception of reality vs. what actually “is”, and the work of Donald Hoffman. Could it be that DMT, actually offers a more direct view of the “reality” that Donald Hoffman alludes to?
@phantomhawk01
@phantomhawk01 12 күн бұрын
Direct view definitely no, t the experience is still using the brain for modulation, in Donald Hoffman's fram the headset is still in use and that gives us 0% chance that we will perceive reality as it is. However if you conceive of the brain as a filter of reality that also constructs our our world model then perhaps DMT is like manipulation of the control settings, and even completely bypassing in some cases, so we may be filtering lees information.

It does seem quite the conclusion to jump to. Might be correct, but how is it falsifiable? For someone to point out that the model we build with input from our senses to form our "real" world isn't truly what's necessarily "there", asserting that there's probably other "things" there too sounds a little off. Like a telescope, I accept it might be the case that using an object or substance might help you see things that are "there" but weren't visible before. Incredibly interesting subject matter, specially as a test environment for developing an alternative theory about the true nature of our perceived reality. The onthological perspective about an altered state of consciousness that shows consistency according to participants of the experience, seems like DMT is blocking something in our brain chemistry that allows the experiencer to bypass the consciouss mind filter and have complete access to the “archetype dimension” within our subconscious mind, almost like bypassing a critical subroutine in the creation of the conscious experience of the self. Or like changing the script of a NDE where the experiencer is no longer exposed to the same archetypes and instead makes contact with “program agents” acting as the true gatekeepers of the infinite and almighty “reality engine” responsible for the procedural generation of our own perceived reality. Definitively one of the more exciting fields of study within modern neuroscience; I wonder what would happen if you combine this kind of altered states of consciouness with advanced techniques of biofeedback and guided hypnosis, perhaps even with cutting edge VR technology as a “control layer/guiding system”. It seems to me like the comsuption of the DMT molecule is only the starting point in the exploration of this vast inner universe.

I'm holding out on DMT; it's not worth the risk of loosing my job. However, even in retirement I don't know if I'd go through with it. I'd like to try at that time, but I might chicken out. My understanding is that it affects the part of the brain that processes as "the self". I may (probably) be wrong about that, I'm an avionics tech, not a doctor after all. However, if my underatanding is correct, the thought of losing my "self" in such a process is terrifying! I like me! A lot! I'm not wholly convinced that the experience isn't created by the brain with no external influence either. The descriptions I've heard sound similar to an occular migraine, just a lot more of it. The only way I would know is to try. So.... I hope one day to have the courage to try when I have no other obligatiins that have a higher priority (such as a great job that I enjoy) but I can't say I'll go through with it until I'm in the hut with the shaman. People see the "DMT entities"constantly shifting with their bodies always taking on new shapes and see that as impossible and fantastic. That's happening to everything you see right now, it's just not happening in a way that you can visually process. It's perfectly normal for a being or an environment to be in a constant state of change, we're just used to it happening at certain speeds and in certain ways that don't generally get picked up by our eyes.

Indeed. It is sometimes difficult to distinguish metaphor, or model from reality, I'd say both of them are models. I googled "what is real" and found a Philip K. Dick quote: "Reality is that which, when you stop believing in it, doesn’t go away." Makes me remember a trip from the youth (LSD) where after dissolving into the environment a language meltdown occurred as if the "semantic glue" between words disappeared turning thoughts (and models) into gibberish leaving only "the eye" watching the collapse, so I had to assume that if nothing else observation was real. With restored language faculties observation can be translated to the possibility-of-a-difference or technically the bandwidth defining Alice and Bob.

Based on what? You can exist in the DMT space and get eaten by a panther or strangled by a boa and devoured. It doesn't seem hallucinated. It feels as real as this life. Who's to say if you get mauled by a tiger in this realm, you don't just wake up in another?

At 10:00 to 12:00 Andrew makes comments about how it's confounding, but I feel like he's really trying to give too much credit to the value and validity of the use of this drug. His example of someone with a fever hallucinating about a tiger in the room being identical in how it's perceived when there really is a tiger in the room is only valid when the tiger isn't eating your face off. When it is, the real tiger makes you faceless and the hallucination doesnt. Reality isn't all in our head as he suggests.
