How do arrears work?

I have a question hopefully it can be answered,was on a job getting paid biweekly,when I started I got paid the following week and then regular salary began,I ended up leaving but only received the first week paid so far,am I supposed to get paid for the last 2 weeks I would have worked?

If my contract says paid monthly in Arrears on every 18th what does that mean
