As a Celtic fan, Peter is absolutely bang on with everything he says. We don't want 20m spent on 6 player. We want 20m spent on 2-4 players. We were 3 or 4 players away from getting out of the group last year. Great podcast, one of the best Scottish football ones, just the sound isn't great.

The only one making any sense is Peter. This year there is no safety net of dropping into the Europa and Conference league. Celtic spent 20m on 10 players last season but none of them had any real experience and this diluted the winning mentality in the squad. This season spend that money on four 25-27-year-olds with European experience and a couple of younger loan-to-buy options. At the same time get rid of those who are not going to make it and put some project players on loan in the SPL.

By being more pragmatic the approach ,by having several formations and flexibility in game and by bringing in players who can adapt to those changes in game. We haven’t as a Club been a force in Europe since Neil Lennon took us into the knockout stage of the Champions League in 2012 since then we have seen 3 Managers in Ronny Deila ,Brendan Rodgers and Ange Postecoglou approach Europe with a single approach and system only broken up by the return in Neil Lennon who set his sides up depending on the strengths and weaknesses of the opposition which in turn seen us qualify for the knockout stage of the Europa League. The one trick pony approach works on the domestic front ( because we are the best side with a higher quality player available) as Celtic have proven but the pragmatic approach has worked for our nearest rivals in Europe _despite_ being second best in Scotland. Brendan Rodgers spoke about this on arrival last Summer ,about being more pragmatic in his approach but I’m sorry we seen very little of it in practice. He needs to resolve that this Summer by both recruiting the right players with the ability to adapt in game and by himself being more pragmatic in his thinking at the higher level. His record in the Champions League is not that great and I think he’s realised it is down to his own single mindedness. Europe isn’t that simple of a puzzle to crack.

Idah and Pablo have both shown quality maybe limited to game time but definitely worth taken chance to sign on permanently if deal can be done. We all agree trying get quality but the problem Celtic have is keeping them and building stronger. Matt O'Riley cost Celtic 1.5 million now worth how much? Imagine trying buy that type quality just now into Celtic. Personally don’t think Celtic will sign many new players. Keep what we got Idah, Pablo, new goalkeeper hopefully Butland and left back. No doubt about it, Celtic's recruitment policy will improve with Brendan Rodgers at the helm. However, Peter is wrong on almost everything important he said. The landscape in Europe has changed over the last 20 years..... however in January we signed a striker in Adam Idah that arguably made the ultimate difference. As for Peter thinking a 32 year old's of Moravciqs quality are available ......I hope he's right. By the way, 150 Million plus in the bank is nothing compared to competing with Clubs being hundreds of millions in debt and still competing fairly under FFP rules. Go figure. Ave Ave

Peter is 100% correct. I know people decided in January this year they weren’t renewing their ticket due to lack of investment and European ambition. I felt the same. The fans were mega pissed and we almost squandered an 8 point lead to lose the league had the Sevvies not lost players through injury and had a dip in form. It was the same small mindedness and tightness that cost us the 10. There’s a dead easy way to do it. Just give BR his budget. He can spend it as he likes, be it 2 players or 6 players. Set a separate budget of £6-£10m for projects. So two budgets but with a ceiling. And if BR brings the right guys in and moves them on 2 seasons later promise 50% of any profit goes back into both pots to buy players.

Celtic need to up their game. We know this. We’ve got a very good manager. Not the best, but he’s as good as we can get right now. We need to go big on a goalkeeper imo. 8-10m big, because it’s a leveller. Another 2m on a no.2 as well. A couple of physical CB, LB additions. Younger Forrest style-winger with pace. Maybe another striker. And then Bernardo/Idah signed up for whatever.
