Hi welcome to Deaf Talks NEWS. The 6th February as the Day Against Female Genital Mutilation. Female Genital Mutilation means people cut skin from the female private part. It is a shocking culture practiced in African countries. This practice should be done before puberty for girls between five to seven years old. This is not done with general anesthesia in the hospital. They call the girl who is playing and say “come here” as if inviting her to eat, blindfold the girl so that she does not see the cruelty that is about to happen, take her to the dark world, and then do this evil act with the girl screaming. A normal razor blade is used for this operation. They leave a small hole for urine and MC and stitch the rest of the part. This is also not done with doctors but with normal people. This wound will take more than forty days to complete. The girl can't move her legs. So sad. Reason they do this is because they shouldn't have sex with any person until her marriage. Then her husband cut the knots. Many women have died so far. The UN, Council has repeatedly pressured African countries to ban this violence against women completely. As a result, the UN has declared February 6 as the day of awareness against female genital mutilation.
