Thanks, Michele for the heads-up. You are always the voice of reason :-). I hope that you are doing well.

As always, great video with helpful information. Some seminaries have special packages especially built for their seminary. Master's Seminary recently got that set up with Logos that has a wealth of great resources! 😁

This is good advice. Also of note is that the base packages become extremely cheap once you already have the features for a specific set. So if you were to get one of the higher Academic packages, which includes more features then the base package books can be pennies on the dollar. So yeah you can end up with some fluff, but end up getting expensive resources for very cheap.

FYI, the link to the grammars is not working. I found it though by using the key word grammars.

Very informative as usual. Thanks. Alternatively, I’m sitting outside in my garden in the sun, sorry Darryl, working through Mark from a free copy of SBLGNT on my iPad.🤣

My goal is to read the Greek New Treatment fluently. I had 4 semesters of Koine Greek over 30 years ago, so I forgot most of the basics except for word studies. So i've basically jump started my return with Merkle/Plummer Beginning NT Greek. I think working with Greek in Logos would enhance my progress, so I want a Logos package that is centered on Greek alone as much as possible, It sounds like the Academic packages would fit this best, but the question is which one? The thing I wanted to add to this is BDAG 3rd edition, and A Parsing Guide To The Greek New Testament by Nathan Han. Would those work with the Academic packages? Thanks

I couldn’t swing buying a package upgrade nor the resources you mentioned. If one is willing to settle for weaker reference works in Logos and has physical grammars I’d recommend the Logos 7 Legacy Libraries, particularly the Wesleyan library. It includes Greek and English Apostolic Fathers and Septuagint, Intermediate Liddell and Scott, SBL NT, and basic Hebrew tools, too. It can get someone started who has Logos and isn’t in seminary. And depending on what you already have can be less than $50. I’m not Wesleyan but that’s the package I went with to get basic language tools.

Can you put out a comprehensive or semi-comprehensive list of free Greek resources? I like the Codex Sinaiticus website and the Vatican online library. I want to do a video on the subject in the near future. I'm asking all the experts.

I actually don’t use Louw Nida very often at all, and it certainly isn’t on my short list of tools. Perhaps it should be?

If the whole purpose is to master the Greek language so you don't need tools should I even purchase Logos? Won't it eventual collect dust at a $1,000+?
@bma Жыл бұрын
I don't think so. The goal is to be able to read so that you can do so without dependence on tools, but that doesn't mean that a) you won't benefit from tools as you learn or b) that you'll continue to deepen your knowledge of the language even if you can read fluently. There is a lot of research being done in the scriptures and having a good set of tools will allow you to quickly search for words, phrases, constructions, verse references and more. Learning the language unlocks the ability to go deeper than you can without knowledge of the languages. But don't feel that you need to go buy Logos... I get people asking, so this video is just designed to help.

I know the feeling. I don't buy as many books these days (except when new ones come out) but when I did, I made use of the monthly payment system which was really helpful.
