How Do I Clean My Cigar Lighter? - Cigar 101

Chances are high that if you’re a regular cigar smoker, you own more than one cigar lighter. But there’s always one flame we get attached to, and we’ll use it to light our cigars through thick and thin. But what happens when your favorite lighter isn’t performing like it should? I have three perk torch lighter. Shooted some brake fluid in it. scrubbed with needle, Then sprayed the heck out of it with compressed air, adjusted to a maximum flow and then I light it up, made it really hot. And BAAM !! Works like new !!

I use an interdental brush on mine to clean inside the the jet flues. Works like a charm.

yup that is perfect unless the clog is further in behind the nozzle components but you should also use it to clean the needle of the fill valve, lots of lint, dead skin, grime and gunk in and around that area and should be cleaned properly before filling otherwise it may get all pushed into the tank and create internal problems

Just one thing I would add to this: if you're going to use compressed air to unclog the jets, do so BEFORE refilling with butane, but AFTER bleeding the air. Works much better.

can you explain the relevance in the order? also using compressed air may push any clog further back in or make it stick more inside and harder to dislodge than purging gas out by the ignition button which may eventually release it but i guess if it don't work you can always take the nozzle and gas line apart for toughrough cleaning unless the clog is inside the tank valves and stem

The timing of gas and ignition. Sounds like you need to press it slow and steady. Not as fast as you can like most people. Thats why most flint lighters light more reliably because the flint goes first and gas hits it immediately after.

I like that torch but like many it has 3 flames…I like 1 flame same length as that torch in the video. …any suggestions on what torch to get? Thanks

You can use a can of condensed air. that should work.

I sent mine to Xikar and told them I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. They responded via email by saying they would not replace my tabletop lighter since I cleaned it with rubbing alcohol. So much for a lifetime warranty. There is nothing about this in the instructions. Needless to say, I need to find a new lighter and cutter company.

Give it a good blast of WD-40 and clean up with a Q tip.

@@Fourgiv4 No. never use that because it will permanently soak the fuel sponge. Never use qtips because they will get threads stuck inside and extremely hard to get out. I use paint brushes that are tiny and alcohol.
