So weird to me the comments on KZbin videos. This guy goes through the trouble of making a video, that *even though it advertises his business*, which is fine, can help a TON of people at the end of their wits with tire problems AND save them a lot of money preventing them from buying new tires. People still make negative comments. Weird. Thank You for making this video !!!

I’ll tell you what this will catch on and become more common place and let me tell you this will be a game changer for the cheap tire market..think of it now we have a way to reject a bad tire that fails to fall into reasonable spec.
@crpth1
@crpth1 2 жыл бұрын
You got it all wrong! What happens now is that cheaper tires can be easily accepted and used down the road. Because there's a way to overcome some fabrication issues. That otherwise would be a severe warranty problem! ;-) Now a "bomb shell" as they say in Top Gear.... Surprisingly to many, cheap tires, read mostly from Asian tires manufacturers. In spite of practicing really low prices. Do have quite reasonable fabrication means! Cost cuts out of their factories. As more to do with high competition level and huge fabrication numbers, usually associated with very low salaries, almost no marketing costs and very low R&D costs easier/faster/cheaper access to raw materials! Let's be honest copying is also way cheaper than develop from scratch! With this said remember their fabrication arsenal many times counts with quite modern and developed equipment! ;-)

My guess is you have a tire issue. Maybe directional wear, belt issue or some other defect in the tire. A wheel bearing would be more of a consistent noise. One way to differentiate tire from bearing noise is, with a bad wheel bearing the noise is evident at very slow speeds as well as higher speeds. With a tire usually you have to get up some speed before the noise becomes noticeable. Hope this helps William!
@crpth1
@crpth1 2 жыл бұрын
@@StanCreech - Adding to what you said. A wheel bearing fault also tend to manifest by an increased amount of noise when the car curve left or right, depending on the affected wheel bearing. On a free/safe stretch of road zig zag, the vehicle left and right! It will immediately evident. To the OP. Usually badly neglected (lack of balance, pressure checking, hard breaking...) or simply old tires tend to do that. Most probably all the above fit on your case. I know that sometimes it's painful to see the money walk away! But a new set of tires in most case scenarios is by far the best choice! The so called half used tires is, in my opinion, a very crappy option. Since money don't grow on trees I do work my own tires. And choose my cars according to my needs, inclusive economical! They might not be fancy, But I can assure they run new sets of tires precisely when needed. I save a lot this way. ;-) Cheers

My guess is it's directional tire wear. Very common. My 2019 Camry came from the factory with Michelin tires, and I have cross rotated them every 5k miles. Stan, if you want the lowest possible imbalance will that machine make you move the tire in relation to the rim, as well as add weights? Also, in your experience, if one is really sensitive as a driver, what maximum imbalance should you shoot for?
@StanCreech
@StanCreech 4 жыл бұрын
Yes after checking tire dynamic balance and road force lbs, the machine marks the tire and wheel with lasers to align tire to wheel which to improve road force, of course this means breaking bead to adjust tire position on wheel. It's not always perfect, but most of the time it's better after the movement. Then re-balance with weights. The smaller the tire, the less the road force number is to stay under. Say for a sedan like Camry or Accord, maybe around 10 lbs max road force variation, above that you might start feeling a vibration. For larger SUV and light truck tires the number would be higher, say 14 or even more. Hope this helps!

Larger size tires can be more challenging to balance and correct with conventional weights. If a lot of weight is required to dynamic balance, you might try balancing beads.
