Dear friend, I hope you enjoyed this rather rambling (and slightly hyper) video! ✨ Here is the link to the playlist I've compiled based off your suggestions! ❤️ open.spotify.com/playlist/3mO4GdhT2MhOsRVpPfcnf1?si=f584de3375c44f03 Feel free to add your favorite song! As a note, I didn’t get the chance to show nearly as many letters as I wanted to. So, I’ll be doing some posts to share my gratitude and do your work justice! 🌌 In the meantime, this weekend I’ll be finding ways to write back (even if it’s an email or DM) and articulate what has been a truly moving experience for me. It still feels otherworldly to have someone share themselves in response to my work. I can’t describe just how much that means to me ❤️ Thank you 🦦🌌✨

Aaaah a fellow lentil lover! ❤️ They helped me in so many ways as I adjusted my diet. Back in Sydney, I got used to eating out and eventually slipped into some really unhealthy habits. As a result, after I’d had enough, I went rather intense with recording everything I was eating and started switching foods around until I felt better. Lentils were the winners! I really should get more creative with how I prepare them though 😂 Any suggestions?

@@LettersFromRo I go to my local Indian grocery and get them dried. They have tons of dried... everything! Even split chickpeas are really cool too. If u like Indian food, Rainbow Plant Life has a famous lentil curry. You can add whatever you like to them too. But something more simple can be like a hummus or even mash up in a sandwich. In reference to 8:22, have you ever thought of trying with food the same approach you have with music? Practicing with the aim of recreating something that you like, first? I really don't see much difference between the two activities in this case - both should be sources of delight for you and potentially for someone else around you - except that one is essential to the proper functioning of your body, the other one can provide for you financially. As an Italian with passion for cooking and eating good food (how original is that, uh?), I care about warning you that in our country genuine pizza is considered a healthy food that could be safely eaten every day. A regular portion for a person is one pie per meal. Since now I live in the US I know that pizza here is a type of junk food that you can only have a slice of before feeling sick and you should definitely avoid regular consumption of. I want to invite you to research about your favorite food and how you can make it at home. Many Italians make it at home on a weekly basis. You just need to prepare the dough the night before or the morning for the evening to let it leaven or ferment, after that two trays of pizza can be done in as little as 20 minutes. But I'm sure you wouldn't mind taking it slowly and dedicate to it even more of your time. Then you can experiment with healthy ingredients for the topping: less salt and low quality cheese, more veggies and...maybe even some lentils - why not? Sending you much love. Mary Jane

What a thoughtful and helpful comment to gift here Mary Jane. I do hope in a future video; to see Ro create something beautiful just as you have so kindly suggested here, as an act of creativity and self care. I have an enormous amount of food allergies and sensitivities and becoming creative with food has made it a blessing and joy instead of sad or hard. I honestly love that I get to eat so well and magically, all because of embracing creativity with it. This meant I don’t feel limited at all. I feel lucky to have discovered how wide and wondrous and easy it can be to eat well. Like discovering a magical doorway into a world I would never have known existed or was possible. I feel like your comment was giving a similar magical map to Ro. That a new beauty and creativity awaits him, where he can add new joy to his meal prep and experiences 😊

Dear Mary Jane, This was a warm message with a great insight! Throughout the years, cooking has gone in and out of my life as I've moved so often and found myself losing touch with what is such an integral skill! Over the last few months I've gotten the chance to experiment a bit more with my cooking (I always played it safe and made the same meals repeatedly) and I hope to continue. Your perspective on treating food like music or any other creative endeavor struck a chord with me and I will do exactly that ✨ Here's a little story: When I was 15, I lived outside Napoli for two years with my family. I had never been so consistently immersed in a culture that highly values quality food. It prompted many of the changes I eventually made in my own diet. In Puerto Rico, the food is delicious--but often heavy 😂 I grew up with the association of "food means tired" and often feared eating when I was busy. The moment I had a proper pizza, I was shocked! To a 15 year old, it seemed like an entire world of cuisine had been unlocked. Beyond that, though, the food lent a backdrop to what I've found to be a uniquely uniting experience I treasure--the meal. Sharing a meal has remained a profound part of my life (regardless of my painfully slow learning progress with cooking 😂) and it's something that I can't wait to develop further! I do believe you have just given me my next challenge ✨ I am going to look up some recipes now ❤️ Thank you for the warmth and inspiration, my friend ☺️ Wishing you a weekend of small wonders 🌌🦦🦉 -Ro

Hello Ro (or do you prefer Rohan? Personally, I like Rohan better.) I have to say that a sign of healthy KZbin channel is the meaningful comments you receive. In my lifetime I have seen and read many comments, on KZbin, Instagram, and Facebook, but the ones i am reading here are most meaningful. You have opened your heart and we are opening our hearts back. I think your channel is one of the most intimate channels. It's love, pure and simple. I enjoyed the questions and answers. Very interesting. I loved the story of your dog the best. Thank you for the photos. What an amazing animal (or was he a human in his previous lifetime? I don't know.) I hear what you are saying about food. I think you are doing fabulous. Personally, I never had much luck with dry lentils. I never figured out how to get them cooked just right and gave up, except for Fava beans. I buy them dry, shelled on Amazon. rinse them off. Then just put some clean water in a pot, salt to taste (2 tsp for a pound of dry Fava beans). Let it come to a boil. Skim off any foam. Lower heat to low. Cover and let it simmer for 45 minutes. Voila. I wish all lentils were that easy. I just love them. Organic Peas are simple too. I buy them frozen. I used to eat plain. Now i add some butter and slivers of almonds. Almonds can be cooked (softened) with peas. It only takes 5 minutes. Food is an art. Not all of us want to spend the time to cook it. I am one of these people. I would rather be doing something else. I get why you eat canned. It's easy and quick. Maybe you can barter with someone, good cooked food in exchange for your talents.

Dear Malgozata, I am flattered beyond belief by this message ❤️ Thank you! I’ve always loved my name, Rohan and I’ve also enjoyed how Ro sounds when spoken softly by a friend. I’m rather obsessed with Lord of the Rings and I used to write my name as it shows up in the books 😂 I have been so lucky to be given this chance to try and approach KZbin in a different way to the past. Despite the learning curve I’ve experienced with social media in general, I’ve slowly taken steps toward prioritising the actual value of this place which is you! That focus has made the entire experience worth while so far and my major goals revolve around keeping a state of connection. Hearing you describe the intimacy I am working towards has left me with a big smile on my face ✨ I have never cooked Fava beans! I’ll have to give them a try as I attempt to explore the world of cooking more deeply. At the moment, I only have a couple of dishes per each meal of the day that I can easily cook. There was a wonderful comment that encouraged me to treat the exploration of food as I do with music. That struck a chord and I may try to make some videos recording my endeavours… and possible failures 😂😂 Most of my drive to learn cooking stems from how happy you can make others through a good meal. Not to mention, a bed and breakfast must have the happiest of food ☺️ Thank you for this warm message, my friend ❤️ Wishing you a weekend of small wonders ✨ -Rohan

I've wondered about filming in a similar situation and trying to work out the best thing for it or using a Lav mic setup or something. Thanks! I find my sound is a bit quiet at the moment when I'm sat away from my camera with a mic on the camera.

Thank you Han! ❤️ I’m glad you like the work! For microphones, in this video, I used a combination of the Rode VideoMic GO II and the Wireless GO II. The first is the directional microphone you saw me holding and it’s connected to a small transmitter on the back (the wireless go II) which send the signal to a receiver on my camera. The range is amazing indoors and pretty good outdoors as long as you don’t block it! They are super convenient! Hope that’s at least a little helpful 🌌 -Ro

Your book is absolutely stunning and it will be well loved with plenty of musings weaved throughout its pages ☺️❤️ It was so incredibly kind of you to send something you made and I was sitting with a big smile on my face as I read your card ✨ Thank you my friend ❤️ You have made a little guy in the middle of nowhere very happy with your art 🌌🦦🦉✨ PS: I look forward to seeing if I can speak more Spanish on the channel in some sort of creative way (I’ve wanted to write a song in spanish for a long time) Wishing you a weekend of small wonders ✨ -Ro

I truly look forward to staying in your B&B one day ❤️ I know it will be a beautiful and relaxing place! I found myself trying to answer all of the same questions that you shared and the one about lessons you have learned from your parents really hit me because I have never thought about the underlying things they both have taught me over the years, the things apart from manners and being kind, my core values were taught to me without even using words I found 🥺❤️

This is a warm and thoughtful message, my friend ❤️ I admit, I struggled to come up with an answer to what I learned from my parents and it was a rewarding experience to think about! They are one of the many parts of my life I often take for granted and it's beautiful to be pushed towards question that beauty and learning a bit more ☺️ To take people around the hills, to pick flowers with a former stranger, to get better at showing love through cooking and service--that is the allure of my bed and breakfast dream. I can't wait to share it in the years to come! I'm so glad you liked the video, my friend 🌌

Thank you my friend ❤️ That’s very kind of you ☺️ This video was definitely all improvised (hence my stuttering and “ummms” 😂) yet it gave me a chance to take another step towards unfiltered sincerity! I’m lucky to do that and I thank you for being here! 🌌

PS. I know that there are healthy mosquito repellents out there. I bought this roll on once and i still have it and it works. It actually is homemade by a small business owner. I bought it at a farmers market. Maybe you can find something natural in your town. It would be worth it.

That’s good advice! I always reacted strongly to repellents, but I have never explored them much. I’ll keep an eye out! ✨

A mí me resulta fascinante! Te animo a que le eches un vistazo 😉🍉

If I had a cafe- I’d call it “The Greasy Goat” with one of those bug-eyed four horned rams that everyone thinks is satanic as the insignia 😂 🐐

Ahahaha this is THE BEST logo 😂 If the title makes me ask questions, I’m sold 😂 For my eventual bed and breakfast, I’m rather tied to making everything slightly Middle Earth/Tolkien themed (or at least fantasy Inn inspired) and calling it “Second Breakfast” (can you tell I’m obsessed with Lord of the Rings? 😅) There would be music and mead a plenty ⚔️

Awww! Yay! I’m so excited to see! If you want to iron it, you can put paper between two pieces of fabric and get it straighter on a low setting. Try it on another peice of paper. Sorry it’s so wrinkled. 😂❤ (also I forgot about the envelope but I definitely remembered after this hahah)

P.S.S. i was wondering, do you live in your parents' house? Nothing wrong with that. I was just curious. Thank you.
@LettersFromRo2 жыл бұрын
My parents built a guest house on their property whilst I was in Australia! I live there at the moment and it’s pretty close to their house ☺️ Real Estate in the valley is ridiculously expensive at the moment (it’s in the midst of a boom that doesn’t seem to be slowing down) so it was incredible to be given this chance to avoid expensive rentals while I develop. It’s a huge stroke of luck for me and something I constantly feel thankful for ❤️
