Great video but I’m not sure this is the right approach towards iRacing for most people! I understand that Race Points and Championships do matter but for the average driver who only has a few hours a week for track time, I would not be telling those people they can only enjoy their favourite simulator for a maximum of 4 races a week! No matter what division you are in, it is unlikely you’ll become a professional sim racer out of it so I wouldn’t care about your championship points guys! Just have fun and try to act professional on the track for the sake of the other racers, that is all that matters in my honest opinion!

Really enjoyed this video, i just recently got back into iracing and have been taking it way more seriously. I have always wondered about division and champ points. But when you broke down the 4 race block chunks and how they factor the average, i could only think about how i was doing 8 pcup races a day last week on my days off. I think i totaled 31 pcup races last week 😅

I’m new to iRacing, just confused between do I need to sign up to an official series, or just doing a weekly races makes me part of the series lol I’m beginning to think it’s just the later. But the two tabs on the official races page are confusing. Also as a new be jumping in partway etc what does that mean.

@@speedgoat7496 welcome to iRacing! Yes it can be confusing, but you'll quickly get there! Ok, so all official weekly races are part of their official series. So you literally just jump into an official race and you'll get points in that series automatically - you'll see those on the results page (so you're correct - you don't have to physically 'sign up' in orderto enter a series). If you wait a week the official weekly race will change to the next round in the schedule, so do that race and get more points towards that season. Today is the first day of week 11 - so there's not long until a new season begins. A good few weeks to decide which series you'd like to do next season! Hopefully, watching this video back once you've been here for a few weeks will make a lot more sense too and answer other questions you may have :)

@ thanks mate so useful clarifying this blocker in my head 😂 much appreciated. I’ve just gained class d license using formula rookies with ff1600, debating if I should do F4 under class d, but that’ll mean buying a few tracks :) Is it best to start a new series when next season starts?

That was interesting to watch although I have to admit I’ve never worried about my points or championship standing. However I would be interested in a video on how i rating is calculated after each race as may times I have improved my position by the end of the race or finished higher than my ranking at the start of the race and yet my rating goes down. Thanks.

If they show "Ranked" and have enough participation (usually 6 entrants) then yes, they are official and will. Unranked events are not.

One question....What is the actual point of IR points rating? Does it just put you in races with faster drivers that are harder to beat?

iRating is how splits are calculated, so for say there is 40 people joining a race, the max car limit for the race sessions is 22, so this will split them into 2 groups of 20, you can't have a beginner in the same race as Max Verstappen so iRating is used as way to split the drivers up into groups of similar skill level. So for say the top group with have a SoF ( Strength of Field ) of 3300 iRating, while the bottom group with be a SoF of 1600 iRating. etc

It matches you to the most appropriate group when there are more drivers signed up than can fit into one grid.
