I already knew how magnetrons work, but your explanation is great! Not too technical, but not missing any important information. Great work! 👍

I didn't know that the cathodes were made of barium. You obviously did some research, good job!

I was wondering just the other day about that! Who is the mad man who came up with this and how do we convince everyone that eating something he’d up by a lot a bunch of micro waves is not only safe but also the standard of how food should be heated up and consumed. but knowing how it works is good too!

So a couple words of caution when dealing with microwave components. Im sure your aware of most of this but microwave capacitors store a tremendous amount of energy can can dump high voltage at high current which can easily kill you. Modern capacitors tend have an internal bleed resistor to equalize the charge however the resistance decreases over time and some caps are not equipped with them. Also most things like wood and work gloves become conductive at high voltages epically on days of higher humidity so always check the breakdown voltage of any insulators you will be using prior to experiments. Magnetron insulators were widely produced with beryllium so be careful not to create airborne partials or industrial contamination. Also magnetron tubes contain thoriated materials so observe safe handling for radioactive materials. Next time you do any experiments containing high voltage be sure to use proper equipment such as wearing a minimum of class 1 gloves when working with energized MOT's and using what's known as a hot stick to manipulate any energized parts. Its always best to begin with something like an NST which typically has a primary and two secondary's that can usually be combined to get in excess of 12KV at much safer current levels than MOT's. Another thought would be to use a deadmans switch or foot switch in series with your transformers in case you need to get out quick it will de energize on its own. If you need any help let me know I would also be glad to supply you with proper equipment for your experiments. Stay safe and good luck!

now the cause of Chronic Fatigue Syndrome is found: radiation of microwaveoven. To stop you have to eliminate the oven out of the house. The plug out of electricity net because the oven has also radiation when it is not in use.And out of the house because the oven has a high voltage capacitor. The distance between an oven and a person is very important. After a 2 weeks without microwaves health becomes better.
