How do officials plan to address state infestation of coconut rhinoceros beetle?

Lawmakers said everyone needs to be more diligent when it comes to dealing with the pests that have now spread from Oahu to every other county.

I saw instruction on how the leaves have a diagonal pattern as the beetles eat the leaf when they are still shoots and grow out with that defirmity.

U/V ultra violet light or mercury vapor light traps can work on flying adults and possibly entomologist can come up with a pheromone that mimics the female scent used with sticky traps or malaise traps.

They want to and are treating with ground treatment that roots suck up and rhino dies, what about bees on palm tree blooms.

Coconut rhinoceros beetles edible. They are rich in proteins and minerals, containing nutrients such as iron, magnesium, calcium, potassium, and phosphorus. They have almost 75% protein compared to 43% in beef.

A lot of these palm trees aren't even native. Packaged coconut milk comes from Asia or California probably so why make this an everyone problem? Seems like a resort industry problem.

These are serious pest for coconut palms. All coconut in Hawaii are consumed locally. No coconut palms grow in California as it’s too cold for them to produce fruit

Or a lovely set of coconut factories hauling 12 tons of deshelled meat and a copra processing plant for the export of materials being used in things like my fridge filter? I mean that's vague yeah? I'm dumb pls explain. If I had to guess...it could be That the industry is so large that there's an always existing surplus with perfect demand by local consumers at a level such that ALL the product is consumed locally? Or that the industry is so small that it is in fact only a supplement to the larger more vital imports coming from (imma guess Brazil or Asia?Mexico?) and this "consumed locally" is because there's no scaling business available to venture beyond the local market. In fact, the local goods are probably propping up an unhealthy untruthful unnecessarily high price point because it's burdened with the all disadvantages of tax and none of the advantages of wholesale production on mass coming from a land of cheaper labor and more utilized ag land? Or Palm trees are for the enjoyment of tourists not tenements

@@nicolassaarni88 but this "problem" does have an industry crying? Golf? Tourism? Air BnB Condo Management? Seems like this whole $1500k venture is designed to benefit a different type of stupid grub.
