We are doing it the same way for over 23years now only difference is we use a lot of water during pumping especially in the summertime , main reason is that the liquid cowmanure is much thicker than hogmanure, what i dont understand is the timing ,i think its better to start like 4 weeks before planting anyways thanks for the video and have a merry xmas to all,including David,greetings from a Dutch dairyfarmer

How often do you need/have to empty the slurry tanks? When you are having the manure "pig poop" spread on the fields how many acres are covered? The piping uses how long is it?

Just recently found this channel, I really enjoy seeing the hogs and all the aspects of it. I helped raise hogs growing up with my parents in the eighties and early 90's until the market fell out. We farrowed to finish in cement floor converted graineries and pole barns, labor intensive, but enjoyed them. We just run cattle and grain now. I noticed in another video that they were getting shipped out at 300lbs, we always sold at 220 back in the 80's and 90's and got docked if they were heavier. Has the finished weight changed for the packers? Keep up the good work.
@thislldofarm16 күн бұрын
Yes. We start marketing at 165 days and the pigs are usually hitting 290 or so. 280-300 is the goal.
@donaldvogtsberger110516 күн бұрын
Growing up, My dad back in 50s and 60s raised hogs farrow to finish. Market weight was 220 like you said. Docked if above that. Wonder what changed to the above 300 now? This was in northern Ohio.

If you look into a company called Keder Solutions, a curtain system could be designed to divide your barn into temporary zones. Think event tent wall curtains. Not hard to make, but you do need the ability to view and understand youtube instructions. Proper tools for the job, mind your fingers. Last night we had pork steaks, 😋 Thank You for putting the flavor back into pork. -EZ
