Fascinating. I am overwhelmed by this subject. Complicated and intimidating is my initial impression but I can feel a connection to the past navigators whether in flight or by sea.

The first real lesson in celestial navigation is that the celestial bodies move above the stationary earth. Also horizon mean horizontal line an horizontal line mean straight line. That's how you measuring the angles, isn't it?

Celestial navigation requires the earth to be a sphere. Celestial navigation works, therefore the earth is a sphere. Good luck nick.

@@nicosimeonov I gurantee you are wrong, probably not understanding the book correctly and i am right. Celestial navigation requires the earth to be a sphere. No flerf has done celestial navigation with a flat model.

Navigation was once a skilled profession, nowadays just one well payed boring timepass.

at 2:50 you show a diagram with a flat surface..I guess you realize you need a flat baseline to get the proper angles. Maybe Nathan Oakley and his group are right.

You don't need a flat surface for an angle, youre wrong on the very basics!

They don't use stars. They use global gps automatic navigation systems, what kind of fantasy is this?
