Rain I’ll admit I didn’t know it was illegal for them to adopt which is probably why surrogate mothers exist which I absolutely disagree with that 100%. I hope they change some laws around and let lgbt couples adopt children bc they need homes! I disagree, guys I would like for you to keep an open mind if you are gonna read this. And I hope I don't offend anyone. Your biology has built in mechanisms for the mother and for the father. How we develop depends on a lot of factors including the parents we have. I don't think it's healthy for children to have gay parents. Neurologically speaking there are specific areas of the brain that increase/decrease in activity depending on the gender of the parents and you can say the same about the hormones released. Now, I briefly discussed the science, now logically speaking, orphans should be brought up with parents of both genders, the child has a role model for their own gender and understands and appreciates the other gender and learns the tendencies of both genders and how to interact with both properly. No offense to anyone, what better way for this to occur than parents that are of male and female? LGBT+ parents would have severe consequences on the population (which is ageing) and the productivity of the economy (which is dependent on the well being of the work force). The social foundations of civilization had been built with these opposite sex marriages. Why attempt to dismantle it. Banning LGBTQ+ outright is wrong, but allowing them to disrupt the economy and the entirety of the population including many orphans that deserve a good life, is wrong also. Society, civilization, humanity has progressed so far opposite sex marriages and their families. No offense to anyone. I do want to hear any arguements to this.

Yeah... That's because Japanese people don't speak their minds. In many cases not even to their closest family or friends. When interviewing people about a controversial subject like this it's impossible to know if they are sharing their true beliefs. Japanese people are always looking for social cues to tell them what the people they are talking to want to hear. It's pretty obvious when someone comes up to you with a microphone and a camera asking your opinions about the LGBT community that they are pro-LGBT.

Definitely it can in some sense such as psychosocial but implying all those with some other sexual orientation follow a deep set seperate culture is a falsehood itself. I actually thought those two men were quite accepting and non-hateful considering their age and the typical attitudes elder people in the west have towards LGBT issues. Sure, they might've said that they didn't think it was normal and don't agree with it, but even despite that they said they'd still accept it if their children came out to them as LGBT. Most homophobic people in Western society think that way on the basis of religion, whereas for Japanese people its more to do with ignorance, and therefore even most homophobic people in Japan don't seem to be as HATEFUL as those in other countries. Then again, it is a country known for bullying in a school environment, so I don't know how kids would react to it.

Every child has a mother and a father, even gay children. It is the only normal family whether you want to believe in some fake social reconstruction or not. Single parent households are not ideal situations, they are unfortunately sometimes unavoidable. Japan actually had very liberal attitudes towards homosexuality prior to the Meiji Restoration. During the Meiji Restoration, Emperor Meiji adopted a Victorian sense of morality by cracking down on homosexuality, shared baths, uncensored pornography, etc. to avoid being labeled as "uncivilized perverts" by the Puritan West and being labeled as a potential target for colonization. Victorian values have been so deeply engrained into Japanese culture that many aren't even aware of this anymore and blindly follow it. Right-wing, nationalist politicians who claim to be defending Japanese culture are actually inadvertently doing the opposite by defending such Victorian values.

That's EXACTLY the case of homosexuality in India. Majority is Hindu and Hinduism legitimises homosexuality, but islamic invaders and then Victorianisation during Colonialism negatively affected the society's views about it. And just like you said, many people hate it in the name of protecting the culture quite unaware of our cultural tolerability towards the matter. But most of our population has fortunately bounced back from this backward mindset!

This is a prime example of the evolution of human beings, and how our judgmental thoughts change when controversial awareness spreads throughout the world. We're still in a state of confusion, dealing with other gender-fluid issues, but the next generation may even accept or come to an understanding of what with these "changes" mean to humanity. People from the older generation, most of them, are forever ignorant on their views and perspectives of the opposite individual, because they were brainwashed by the masses when their parents were quickly to judge. That's why the most of the world governments are so fucked, the leaders (Trump) are too close minded and prefer to stay in their time bubble, that do not respect other cultures for what they represent. In my "philosophy", I believe adapting to the concept of "cause and effect" is the key to conquering what is meant to be "different" is another step towards acceptance.

In certain other issues, I would agree with you, but not on the issue of LGBT people - at least, from my personal experience. I find that there are many elderly who base their opinions on "natural order" (as opposed to religious opposition) - that is, something along the lines of "male-female couples are the only possible form of marriage" or "[a certain country] has never historically had same sex relationships/the people of [a certain country] should not be homosexual". Most notably, even those from Asia holds these views in spite of the fact that homosexuality is well documented in places like India and China. In this I find that the elderly are usually not well informed enough of the history of homosexuality in the country that they talk about, as opposed to them opposing it based upon greater wisdom or experience. Similarly, those who claim that homosexuality rising in Europe is an indication of European's degeneracy base their arguments on a flawed premise, since, before the arrival of Christian missionaries to Asia, while the Asians were participating in homosexuality without much punishments, the countries that hold the Christian faith were persecuting homosexuals everywhere they find them. It is for this reason I find the belief of the non-existence of homosexuality in both Asia and Europe in medieval times strange.

In Japan, many women are expected to be full-time housewives after marriage and lose economic independence as a result. So they stay in marriage because that's their "job" instead of a relationship. Also, if you want your child to be happier, gay or not, one main thing to do is to accepts who they are/their feelings about themselves, instead of denying it/claiming that those feelings are "bad for you" it will only hurt them further

This was really interesting to watch. My people tend to be quite prejudiced and close-minded. Case in point, when I brought my first girlfriend, who was Filipino/Chinese, home, my grandma told me, "if you marry that girl, I'm not going to the wedding!" Then when I came home with my first tattoo, which was just 島本 and each character was only 1" (2.54 cm) tall...that same grandma asked me if I was in the yakuza now! LOL. Luckily, her daughter, my mom, was EXTREMELY accepting when I came out to her in 1997...so accepting that she asked me, "between you and your boyfriend, who's the top and who's the bottom?" Haha. So there's hope for our people to be more accepting of the 🏳️‍🌈 community. 😁

I had my appointment at 4 pm but I was so excited that I got there at 3:30, so he started at 3:45 pm and finished at 8:15 pm. 😁

I'm an atheist, I belive all religions harm society equally, the old testament that MANY christians in the US still use as their primary holy book, is almost identical to the quran in many ways. People that single out the muslim religion like it is any more inherently dangerous than the christian religion are usually christians themselves and heavily deluded. No its actually like 4.5%-6%. At most 8% if we include closet cases. Japans numbers are extremely high compared to most places. Especially the US where its the numbers i stated earlier. Another thing no one considers is bisexuals. Many bi people might just identify as straight. If the number is 10% then that would mostly be bi people not gay people, because bisexuals are (obviously) the largest group in the LGBT community.

@@fajaradi1223 Geisha never where crossdresser. First geisha where men, but due to some problems, the only ones who can be Geisha are women. It's same for traditionnals theather. At first it was mostly women who were acting but then due to some problem, they were all replaced by men. They kind of change their places. Also, crossdressing was always a thing in japan history, crossdressing is really common (wich is why you sometimes have part or series where a character is crossdressing and all). It's just clothes, they don't really care. Well these must be costume (crossplay, school event, harajuku, etc) or every day normal clothes. Also, in Visual kei groups, looking androgyn is a must. Japanese are also more pansexual, sure like any one they care about your appearence and gender (like any one) but after will love you for your personnality more than anything. It's can also explain why GL and BL (yuri and yaoi) characters are mostly open to any relation than really gay. Or that in average shoujo or slice of life stories the main characters have often crush into a character from the same sex without really feeling bad about it. It's a case that you can see in the manga Prunus girl (but the manga ended too speed cuz the author was sick).

I am Japanese and bisexual. I have some lgbt friends. My family don’t know my sexuality but they may notice it. When I came out someone, next day all of my class mate knew I am bisexual. Someone made fun of me because of lgbt. But others, most of them accepted me and they keep our friendship. They didn’t make fun of me. They didn’t speak ill of me. So did my teacher. She said “ don’t think that you are strange. You are normal. You can enjoy your school life and have rights which everyone has. Don’t cry”. Now a lot of Japanese people don’t discriminate against LGBTQ people. They willingly understand us. Some elderly people hate us. But Not All. The world are becoming more and more tolerant one by one. Im a Filipino and Im about in early teens here, I go to a catholic church for catechism and a lot of my friends is Bisexual. Some has girlfriends whilst going to church and a lot of us are very open about it but this doesn’t mean I’m generalising us. About.. I’d say 11 percent of us is in the LGTB since many of us kids are influenced by western people. Pretty much my religious parents doesn’t accept it but they don’t have to agree either. To try to tackle the bullshit one can read in this comment section, here I go: Actually there's no gay "gene", nor are people determined by their environment regarding their sexuality. While a baby is still a foetus, there's a peak of testosterone that determines if the person will be attracted to the other sex (the most common option), or the same sex (which hapens roughly about 5% of times, IN EACH AND EVERY CIVILISATION, no matter the times). So there IS scientific evidence to prove that homosexuality is not a disease, nor a malfunction, it's normal, and the environment in which you grow up has nothing to do with it (although it can lead to hiding one's homosexuality, but not erasing it). Some are GAY AT BIRTH, and that's it.

Trying to be normal has become such a social stigma that being different has become taboo. People from new generations have become more understanding, but you can still tell that simply becoming different makes you an automatic victim. That is a major stigma that should go away. i actually really love this channel! just wanted to put that out there ~ in regards to the couple adopting, in Japan there are too many children who are growing up in orphanages.. it might be an Asian or specifically Japanese thing but, theres some stigma against "raising someone else's child" weather it be as a step-child, or an adopted/fostered child.. so the average couple in Japan won't consider looking at adoption. so if the LGBT community can save these children from growing up without a family to call their own, no one in Japan should be against it.. especially if they want their population to keep growing. ! but as the old gentlemen said, i can imagine that at school and maybe even out in the the working world, they'll most likely become the target of bullying.. but that is not the adoptive parents fault, it's the parents of the bullies and the teachers who look the other way or even show blatant agreement/siding with the bully/or even being the bully. the way they look and deal with bullying needs to catch up to how quick social issues are being talked about. but progress is progress so i have no complaints ^_^

@@skrtahaha5491 so funny you came and asked me haha. I was actually raised by a single father after my mother left us. And let me tell you, I have achieved much more than any of the kids who grew up with me. Not trying to be cocky or to show off, but I never felt different to these kids I actually saw myself better growing up because I had extreme support from my father that these kids never got from their parents. And if I am going to start to talk about my achievements, i’m going to start sounding ignorant and proud so let me just end it here👌🏻. The only thing that was hard for me is the bullying because I got bullied for not having my mother with me. Not the bullying you might think of, nothing extreme, but people or schoolmates used to call me names and stuff so the problem is not my parents being divorced, its the people not having an open mind. I would rather 100% to live in a single parent household than living with both parents while them having a very toxic relationship.

@@Mega3fra that’s why I said *generally* . Ofc having one loving parent is better than two Herero toxic ones, and I’m sure ur dad is incredibly loving and supportive. That’s why I truly support same sex couples adopting children from less fortunate backgrounds. Although, statistically and generally, u must know this isn’t the case with single parent households. Statistically, children in single parent households have much more negative prospects than ones in married couples. There were studies that showed that same sex parenting had almost identical results with single parenting; much lower graduation rate, lower self esteem, lower emotional development than hetero parents. They was a big disparity in percentage too. If you want I can try and find it. The point is, even logically, I truly think there are psychological and developmental consequences to having an absent parent, whether it be a mother or a father, and the research shows it too. I don’t think voluntarily and intentionally depriving a child of a motherly or fatherly figure is healthy. This is hard to hear. I’m not saying this is a joyous thing. I’m gay.

devastating is such a painful word to hear... especially from a parent. if my mum or dad said that to me after i worked up for months, even years to come out, i would be heartbroken... devastated is the word to use if someone was hurt badly in an accident, or if someone you know is diagnosed with a bad disease. it should not be used for a human emotion you cannot control... it makes me so sad :(

So the younger folk are ok with it but the older generation not so much. Same as everywhere else then. Personally I think the biggest question to ask would be is the child in a loving home with supportive parents? Straight couples can be junkies, alcoholics, abusers, and all sorts, but becasue the Mother/father thing is seen as "Normal" a lot of underlying issues can go unnoticed.

Loving a child unconditionally and keeping them away from harm are not in conflict with each other. When a child commits a murder the parent can still love the child unconditionally. Also, if a parent tells their child they did/are doing something wrong that doesn't mean they don't love them unconditionally. Actually, if a parent is willing to do this that's evidence that they do love them.
