sir, good day. take my regards. if i inspect scavenge trunk, and find that, one specific unit has too much oil+sludge accumulation inside the scavenge trunk comapre to other units. what could be the reason? why too much accumulation or how the oil is coming?
@marine-knowledge-basha
@marine-knowledge-basha 2 жыл бұрын
Thanx for your query sir... Accumulation of sludge depends on hw speed and load the engine s running. Usually u can hv visual inspection on Accumulation. If you find abnormal sludge that may be due to * Drain line could b clogged. * Fuel injection is not proper * Fuel injecttor leaking. * improper tightening of fuel injectors. Hope this reply will satisfy your query

sir, i am a cadet. may i ask you a question about liner wear? is adhesive/scuffing wear and micro seizure on liner surface is same? or adhesive wear and micro seizure different case?
@marine-knowledge-basha
@marine-knowledge-basha 2 жыл бұрын
thanks for your good question sir.. * Adhesive wear is caused by loss of oil film and leads to piston and liner to have metal to metal contact that may reach to localised welding and leads to scuffing.. * Abrasive wear is caused mostly by cat fines which is contaminated in fuel oil. This leads to rubbing of Abrasive wear can be caused by hard asperities in the components rubbing against each other or by hard particles from contaminants such as catalyst fines (cat fines) from fuel oil. These hard particles embed themselves into the piston ring and/or liner surface and breach the oil film, thus abrading the surfaces and wearing them down in high speed. * Micro seizure indicates the beginning of wear and can be rectified by increasing the cylinder oil feed rate. I beleive this reply will satisfy your query,

@@mwbgaming28 sir in this case the guy must have been inside the chamber because of intentional or accidental closing of scavenge door without inspecting for any person inside.

@@marine-knowledge-basha he went in there without telling anyone and someone closed the door on him, the captain though he left the ship and was ditching work, so he started the engine and the ship departed on a trip that took a few days (they were going to a dry dock or something for major maintenance) and they found the guy dead in the air scavenging receiver Do you think it was temperature or pressure that ended up killing him?
