What time span are students in ESL classes? With the same teacher? Though all are learning English, are there accents which make learning the language a little difficult by comparison? I'm curious about challenges that different accents may cause for ESL teachers and students, if any. Vietnam seems to have a lot more benefits to a life/work balance than South Korea, based upon videos I've seen. I hope to be able to teach there one day for at least 1 year. Thanks for another informative video, Alex.

It depends on the school, but at English centers 1.5 hours twice a week is quite common. Some stronger accents can be more tricky for students than others, but English is a global language and it's good for them to be able to understand English with any accent.

Nope. Some people interpreted a circular that came out back in December as a new requirement for teachers, but it’s just a new curriculum for a TEFL course that local providers can use. Internationally issued TEFL certifications are still accepted in Vietnam for work permits.

Hello Sir, I'm currently a 3rd year Education student, soon to be 4th year, and I've been presented with an exciting opportunity to do an internship teaching abroad, specifically in Vietnam. The prospect both thrills and scares me. I've heard various opinions from my peers, some of which have caused me to have doubts. They've mentioned that teaching English in Vietnam can be challenging, and as an English major, I want to be prepared. I am 52 and a degree in teaching in South Africa. Is there any restrictions i want to do my TEFL course this year

As a South African you'll need a bachelor's degree, teaching certification (TEFL/TESOL/CELTA) and English language proficiency test (IELTs) for a work permit to teach English in Vietnam. You can learn more here: ninjateacher.com
