They’re already doing safe use sites in Canada. They give them the equipment and clean drugs and allow them to use in a safe place and then leave. So it’s already been figured out. It lowered the crime and the overdose rate significantly in that area. Idk if it helps get people off or not but it did show positive effects.

Getting them unstuck is where we should be aiming. It’s all in the mind ,, one day a bright mind will get to the answer.

The human body wasn't designed for the consumption of un healthy american food even if it is legal. Its a fact that highly educated and wealthy individuals live longer and better than those who are not that well off. I get my full medical efter year and do my drugs ever day and have been doing so for decades but I do not drink alcohol which otherwise is legal. Many of the drugs I consume no longer are criminal in Europe and there is no evidence that the drugs from a medical standpoint will shorten my life to the same extend which Alcohol or american food otherwise would do it. Remember that most drugs was perfectly legal until the pharmaceutical lobbied for financial control by making the import and sale of those drugs a limited privilege for the few elite. The fact is that many of the legal drugs are identical to the illigal drugs especially when it comes to opioids. I do however agree that the US has alot of very dangerous drugs which we never have experienced in Europe. I do not have the addictive gene and can switch of for months or years and do so when i want. Drugs should be legallized, taxed and sold from pharmacies. That way you can reduce the cost of you police budget by 100% (Because you are making a profit on the taxation of the drug sales) and treat those who can not manage their consumption is a responsible way. Its so simple and it works everywhere this method is introduced.

There will always be some drugs you cant legalize, because they are dangerous and harmful no matter what. And just because there is legal alcohol hasnt stopped people from producing and consuming illegal produced alcohol. There is a difference between helping people and not criminalize consumers on one hand and legalize dealing with drugs. We also dont legalize murder and theft just because some people dont care about the law and do it anyway.

As bad as drug abuse is, the ancillary violence associated with Drug Prohibition is far worse. With the repeal of Alcohol Prohibition in America, the homicide rate fell for nine years straight! Drug abuse should be treated as a medical problem rather than as a criminal one. Drug Prohibition Laws are a huge subsidy offered to organized crime!?! All this being said... allowing drug addled homelessness on city streets is never acceptable, even to Libertarians!?!

You’re wrong. Alcohol and hard drugs are not comparable. Alcohol could be compared to low THC cannabis at best (not the stuff they sell on the street these days). I really dislike this parallel. You see young people on the streets of LA with limbs literally consumed by necrosis and you go “muh it’s like alcohol guys”. The left will never learn because they don’t want to. They just want to feel good about themselves for being “compassionate” even when they know for a fact that the consequences of this surface compassion are disastrous.
