So Anthonee Robinson was raised in Liverpool and Kerkez was coached by Slot and is captained by Szoboszlai. Both seem like great fits and both have way more recovery pace than any of our current defenders.

Robbo is clearly a great leader in the squad but the game has moved on in terms of him being a starter. He’s burnt himself out playing for club and country (through injury at times) and it looks like his change of pace has gone. I love Robbo but we need someone who can beat the first man on crosses!

Ste is wrong about his analysis of tboth he other lb:s we´re looking at and how Slot uses full backs. Firstly Ait Nouri and Robinson are different profiles from each other. Robinson is more simillar to Robertson than Ait Nouri, but still different. What Slot wants at full back is someone who has energy to run up and down the pitch but is also techincal enough to contribute in the build up (this is where bith Robbo and Tsimikas fails they´re way too one footed). Ait Nouri fits both of these crieteria more so than Robinson (and we´re not in for him anyway), but there is still questions about his 1v1 defending. Kerkez is the perfect Slot full back profile. And Slot doesnt paly with centre backs at full back.

Love Robbo but you can see his intensity and running ability isn't what it used to be and that is expected. Problem is Robbo is one player whose game revolved around running relentlessly up and down the pitch. You take that out from his game, the drop off will be and is huge. I completely disagree with everything you've said here. Selling Robbo is the most sensible thing to do after signing a new LB. He'll be 31 and on the last year of his contract come the end of the season. Renewing his contract after he's struggled for years would be stupid. I've not gotten the impression Robertson is a player that would ever be happy with less playing time, ended last season playing through pain when we had players who could play the position and play it better than him. Even after the Arsenal game, the 1st thing he does when he has a decent performance is run to the media and talk about proving people wrong. There's nothing that suggests this is a player who's happy playing 2nd fiddle.

Robbo on a bigger contract and will enter last year if he stays for another season. He has mentioned that he would love to play for celtic, so i think a move suit all parties. He is past his best days, and have become unreliable in different ways on the pitch the last years. selling him also might generate a sum, perhaps recoup the money we once spent on him. However, i don't think he will turn sour and complain in the media he ends up being second choice. The fact he's mentioned proving people wrong isn't neccasarily deep. Journos often ask players about such things. i think keeping Tsimikas is the best option. Younger player, more consistent. longer contract. popular guy in the dressingroom (same with robbo tbf), good cross and set pieces and probably a similar selling value as of right now. Selling both LB's is dangerous, a difficult position to fill. We've seem alot of bad ones through the years.

I dont try and judge him too much, and tbf havent watched LFC as much this season. Well in recent weeks anyway, but yeah just not quite the same level as 2017- couple of years ago. And was a high level, quite a high level but has dipped. Should give Tsimikas when fit bit more of a chance, Alt Nouri could be ok. Kerkez dunno enough, but yeah seems like should be an option- to get someone in. Bring someone in even with how well the team is going, with whoever is at left back in the side.

I think it’s down to FSG not wanting to spend money at the end of the day. Robbo has been poor for a couple years and he shouldn’t be playing the amount he is anyway. We’ve got the same 2 left backs from 2022 and we are heading into 2025… particularly fullbacks of all positions are without doubt the cheapest in the market so the fact we haven’t bought one is poor, spend the money go get a left back not hard at all

Regarding to keeping Robbo past next summer: I don't think it is the best choice.. Yes he is a popular man in the group, yes he still is able to play a good match every once in a whille. Yes he is in the leadergroup. BUT, he is a liability on the pitch, past his prime, on high wages for being a reserve. Kerkez is the man for the job, make it happen. keep Kostas, because we know what we get from him. Robbo has for along time talked about wanting to play for Celtic, and i think he would be open for that move at the end of the season. The contracts of the big 3 should be mentioned though, it's important to reknew them so our leadershipgroup and titlewinning players leave all at once.
