So good to see you both again! It’s nice you have several options. I like the individual units makes it nice to take the chill out of a room and not heat the whole house. Great informative video guys! ~Cara 😊

I guess I did not even think about this until now. I'm thinking just to to the wall and turn on the switch. Our neighbor here is getting solar panels and he is paying $150.00 US Dollar a month for 25-years. That would cover is Air and Heat. I'm glad you had some options. Hope all is well. You guys take care. Thumbs up. 👍

Thank you for video. 3500 Euro cost of modern pellet stove. 1000-1500 Euro for pellets for winter season. Gas is even more expensive, than pellets. Where I live wood cost 25 Euro per 1 m3 or 100 Euro for 1 ton truck. Gas from central high pressure tube cost 0.072 Euro/m3 (for heating season, since Sept till May, 3000 m3 are needed with total cost of ca.200 Euro). Viessmann Vitopend W-100 for hot water and central heating, natural gas is used, price is 1000 Euro.

I keep trying to think of something Patty but I just can't. Maybe just bigger selection of things? Oh there is one thing, ceiling fans!!! They aren't big on them here so the choices are very very very limited! Apparently Italians don't like breezes, they think they will catch a cold! Can't really think of anything we should have known before buying our property, it just all felt so right😊

I think having a few options is a great way to go. I had that in my French homes and will be doing similar in Chianni. That way, you get to chose and if one runs out the other can take over etc...I also do love the romance of a fire for the simple fact that watching open flames is mesmerising and comforting. It's also great to cook over as well. So glad I have an open fire in my kitchen. You are so well set up...looking forward to visiting one day! 🥰🤗🌞

Nice overview! So did they take their stufa with them along with the kitchen? That seems kinda crazy! We definitely appreciated having smaller rooms that we could close off when running the electric units in PT. One small benefit from our wildfire is that we have lots of dead aspen to put in the wood stove now...

Thanks for the video I’m contemplating a move and I’ve been trying to decide on what’s the best way to Heat I currently live in Maine and I can’t stand the winters anymore. Six months of just cold, damp and I’m constantly wrapped in a blanket. I don’t want that over there, but I do want an older home with all the stonework so I’m very concerned and trying to figure out what the best way is to go about it. One thing I wish you had mentioned is how long do you have to heat for there? How Do you feel being in the home during the cold seasons ,walking from room to room and how many months of Heat do you have to consider heating? what part of Italy are you in? i’m looking to northern Tuscany areas. Thank you for all that you’ve given here. I really appreciate it ❤

We are in Umbria, central Italy. Winters are very mild, nights can be freezing but even that means barely 25f or so. We generally run the pellet heater most of the day since we're home a lot. This warms up the radiators which we have all over the house. This ensures our home is roughly 68f, we don't run heat at night and don't have to wait too long in the am for it to warm up. It all depends on what you consider warm enough to forego the blanket but keeping our house plenty cosy in winter is certainly not a problem.

Thanks so very much! For the information. I’m enjoying watching you guys! I’m so nervous about the language. I’m just getting started now. It concerns me. I studied for like two hours last night and don’t know that I remember anything. Oh my God, it seems like it’s going so good while I’m sitting in the class you know, t think I m OK I’m getting this and then I go to sleep and get up the next morning,I’m struggling again to remember any of it. Driving is going to be important to me and I watched your video on that and that really frightens me as I will need the language. I know that once I get settled, I’ll probably want to spend a lot of time in the town that I’m settled in and working around the house ,so buses and trains will be good for a bit. But I so want to travel so hopefully the language will come because I do wanna live there permanently. I’ll need it! Thanks for all that you

Since you have a pellet stove, wall units and gas - I am curious if the gas runs the same radiators that the pellet stove is connected to? Seems like if you were going to "lock and leave" the property for any length of time you would need central thermostat driven heat? A system that needs no manual integration? Am I correct in this thought?
@stijnt2377
@stijnt2377 Жыл бұрын
Our gas heater is connected to both the water lines (for hot water) and to our radiators. It is indeed connected to our system using a thermostat. Thankfully it doesn't get that cold here in winter so we haven't really had to worry about running heat while we are away. That said i don't know that we've really been away for multiple days in a row during winter.

I was wondering are the pellets more expensive because of supply and demand from covid and is Italy experiencing high inflation as well? So do you need natural gas for hot water and cooking, if not what are you using. So basically, what you're saying is to have a few of the options for different usage. Thanks for your help, I don't think that would have been a question at the top of my list. Love from NY.

@@jonimarchese7655 not sure why pellets are so expensive this year, like almost 10euros per bag! Last year they were about 5.50euros per bag and we're being told the year before that only 3.00. Yes, the gas we use primarily for cooking and heating our water but the radiators are also hooked up to the gas if need be.

That's a lot. I paid in Spain for the same service plus a cassette inside eur 1800 in total. I heated my villa in Spain in winter with the air condition unit and if it was really cold and I wanted to have it warm and romantic I used the chimney with olive wood. The electricity costs were OK because you only need the ac unit for a few minutes to have warmth. I purchased a special vacuum cleaner for the fireplace for approx. Eur 300. This is very convenient. I also will have gas connection in Italy now. But I am very afraid of gas. I will see how expensive this will be. Thank you for your information. I paid the first installment for the house, hopefully I will get the house into my possession soon.

Heating a home with wood? As I said, the infrastructure of Italy is outdated. Can't you just use portable electrric heaters for selected rooms?
@ouritaliandestiny7955
@ouritaliandestiny7955 Жыл бұрын
Yeah, wood is the most affordable by a long shot, particularly for us with access to firewood. Electric costs about double per kwh Vs the US so electric as the base heat source doesn't make financial sense. That said, we may just turn on our ac unit on the heating setting if we only need a quick boost in temp in a specific space.
