I just started budgeting 2 years ago and adhere to a zero based budgeting. It works best for me because I'm paying off almost 6 figures of non-mortgage debt and keeping an emergency fund. I'm glad that you're sharing budgeting tips now because it's a skill I wish I learned about a lot earlier.

Thank you so much for making this. They don’t teach this in American schools and I really wish they did

I have simple rule that works for me. 50/50. 50% of whatever i earn i get to spend in any way i wish. 50% is not touched at all unless its for investment. Defined as things that will make me more money, or at least have strong potential to do so. Meaning car payment, new furniture or anything like that is not in this category. It goes in first 50%.

Jokes on you. I applied that, then realized I just need a better paying job. Now, I don't care about my budget and I fund all my needs, all my wants and have a adequate sum of savings per month. You don't need this, you are just poor. The only thing I regret is trying to implement economic logic on a joke salary.

Even the rich… especially the rich…know where their money is going. This thinking is how millionaire basketball players end up broke. Always know where your money is going!

My workplace has 2x salary compared to average in my town. Still most of my coworkers are broke 10 days after getting paycheck. I agree with you that real question is how to earn more. But if you don't have your spending in check it does not matter how much you earn. Because its way easier to spend than earn.
