Beautiful job gentlemen! I was born on Lesvos and most people commenting here know little to nothing about what it is to be a refugee. Do you really think people want to leave everything and everyone familiar to them, to embark on a dangerous journey to unfamiliar land(s) across the sea where they may or may not survive? The only reason people do that is because they don't have another choice. I was on Lesvos almost two years ago when tens of thousands of people were coming to the island daily on inflatable rafts. It's easy to sit behind a computer screen and make judgements, but put yourselves in the refugees' positions and I'm sure your opinions would be very different. Thank you again gentlemen for shining such a beautiful light on the island and the beautiful people that inhabit it.

We've had someone at school come and talk to us about his journey about coming to Australia and it had everyone in tears. He was being shot at whilst he was trying to escape his country and lost his best friend. He jumped from refugee camps and got sent back multiple times. Then whilst trying to complete his last year of schooling he held down four jobs whilst living alone because he had to leave his family behind and riding a push bike everywhere. Now he's graduated and is in university working his hardest to make a living. He's honestly such an inspiration and I'm so glad we have world wide refugee camps like this to help the helpless because they are forever grateful

@f.y5797 жыл бұрын
Vincent Van Bellingen firstly, like I mentioned before in a comment, measures have to be taken to allow refugees in. I understand that there are some people with evil intentions and it shouldn't be overlooked. also, did you know that Lebanon has taken in 1.5 million refugees? they only have a population of only 6 million. Saudi Arabia and other gulf countries need to open their doors, but they're not. the west needs to hold them accountable. the whole situation is messy and complex, we're not getting anywhere bickering on here. using the 'heart'' argument is important also, how could u oppose that unless another human's life is worth less than yours because they speak another language or hold a certain belief system..

A reminder to the people who complained that AsapSCIENCE should stick to videos about the hard sciences; you have the choice to NOT click and watch this video. Just cos you subscribe to a channel doesn't mean you have to watch every single video they produce. If the title of a new vid isn't for you (like this one for example), don't click it. It's not hard. Personally I really enjoyed this video, I liked that it was brought down to a human level, about people who are trying to flee from war and suffering. It's not about politics or an 'Us vs. Them' mentality, it's about helping out your fellow human being from a super shitty situation. I'm glad the AsapSCIENCE guys are using their channel to bring awareness to the situation and awareness of the amazing work that goes into making sure scared and traumatised people feel safe.

@voidimperial11797 жыл бұрын
Sadly, it has multiple design flaws. There isnt a central area for showering, nor a heating room with plenty of ovens. Usually camps would have transportation going in and out of it. So we would have to add railway lines. Also, they might want to escape when they realize what were building is a functioning duplicate of Treblinka so to solve this issue we would need electrified fences

From there we would be illegal immigrants. Especially if crossing the borders illegally. You know, as they are doing it 99% of the time. In Hungary, we made a wall. But any refugee who comes legally, can take refuge. You can guess how many tried to access legally...?:D

In Istanbul, Turkey, although there are(?) refugee camps, most of the refugees end up in the streets, begging. This also increased the level of crimes. There are seriously millions, millions and MILLIONS of refugees in Turkey, and Turkey was already an overpopulated country before them. Some of them even act as they're on a vacation.. Although we really want to be helpful, we're really suffering from this problem a lot and it has seriously lowered our living standards. Our government is the one to blame though, not the refugees.

LlamaMech The things that have been done by some cannot define a whole nation, or a whole religion 😞 I'm not unfamiliar with what's been happening around the world, and especially here, as the majority of the refugees pass through Greece to go to Europe and/or America 😕 Just to be clear though, with my intentions being not to offend anyone and just state an honest opinion, all I wanted to say was that I'm proud to at least call my country the one that helped so many unlucky people despite their religion. Also, I rarely find on the internet mentions to Greece without either basing everything on Ancient Greek society or making snarky comments about being in debt and I wanted to point out that we are so much more than that 😇 (also, sorry for any mistakes, Im obviously not a native English speaker)

The propaganda is the political agenda youtube is pushing. Refugee only need to move to neighboring countries. Saudi Arabia and the rest of the gulf should take refugees but they refuse. "refugees" dont need to move to Europe from the middle east. At that point they should be called economic immigrants. This is where the problem is, they are trying get hundreds of thousands of people into Europe while calling them refugees. Europe will continue to diminish and become a police state/sharia law. Saudi Arabia and the rest of the gulf should take refugees but instead they fund radical mosques in Europe and fund ISIS France, Sweden, Belgium, and England attacks will not slow down

People in the comments are so cruel... Can't you see that these are innocent people who were forced to leave their home and culture? I bet all of them would have prefered their country to be safe and stay there, so they're not trying to "rob" us europeans. Imagine someday a war broke out in your country, you were forced to leave and everywhere you go you were treated like the pest. Besides that, almost every country has been at some point refugees, like in Spain during the civil war, republicans fled the country, or during the II World War, people were fleeing everywhere, even the United States was created by english refugees. So stop judging people for something they can't control, like the fact that they were born in a country where a war is happening.

Refugees that can fight is a point, but not everybody is a fighter. :/ Let the ones who want to help, help. The ones who dont want to help, shouldnt be forced. I dont understand why this video has almost as many dislikes as it does likes, its probably because Camps dont necessarily solve the problem? Ultimately though it has to happen someway or another. Those who dont wish to fight, either run to a place they can maybe find a place to live or stay in their home and die.
@abdulazizrushdi91547 жыл бұрын
Blades Dark Yes and also fighting isn't as simple as it seems. In a typical war there are two sides, one with your country and the other against, so you fight with your country. Simple. But right now it's absolutely complicated. You might be fighting thinking you're supporting your country but in actuality you're helping the enemies. Several sides, some from the government, some among the people, some from other countries,etc. It is just not that simple.

I don't understand what people are getting so angry about. You're just providing information on the topic of refugee camps. Don't listen to those who are calling this 'propaganda', or any other xenophobic bullshit people are spouting on about. If the people that commented those things had the same thing happen to them, they would view the issue VERY differently. People should consider Rawls' thought experiment, the 'veil of ignorance': People making political decisions imagine that they know nothing about the particular talents, abilities, tastes, social class, and positions they will have within a social order. When such parties are selecting the principles for distribution of rights, positions, and resources in the society in which they will live, this "veil of ignorance" prevents them from knowing who will receive a given distribution of rights, positions, and resources in that society. For example, for a proposed society in which 50% of the population is kept in slavery, it follows that on entering the new society there is a 50% likelihood that the participant would be a slave. The idea is that parties subject to the veil of ignorance will make choices based upon moral considerations, since they will not be able to make choices based on their own self- or class-interest - en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Veil_of_ignorance

Congratulations on this video, hope some people can open up their hearts, mind and soul into understanding the gravity of the situation and also be a bit more human and put themselves in their place. many think these are just bad people, but that's what one of the things terrorists want, to put fear and make you think all of this people are just...bad... and it's not like that... it's very sad that people actually think that way..

It is great to know that even though Greece is going through such bad economic situation itself, it is still helping refugees. I've heard a lot about Greek people being warm and helpful but this really proves it. And yeah just like the woman said, Imagine a world where there would be no need for refugee sites/camp, people living happily.

You are misunderstanding my point I'm not talking about the people that came to france after the 2 worlds wars that's a different topic i'm talking about the refugees crises that we have right now. What most of the commenters don't understand is that the other major factor, aside from conflict, causing people to flee their homelands are environmental factors such as drought or infertile lands. Europe is the closest, sustainable, environment the refugees can flee to in order to survive.

The comments under this video are disgusting. Refugees are people, they flee from their homes because there is war, they want to live. There are also refugees who come to Europe to have a better life but why is that a bad thing? How did we deserve a better living standard than others just because we were born in a rich country? Yes there are people who are lazy or criminal and don't want to immigrate and yes, those people don't earn to seek refuge in my opinion. But there are also refugees who want to work, to educate themselves and to immigrate because they want a better life and don't want to fear for their existence anymore. They are human. Dear people, please be too.
@eternalglory63577 жыл бұрын
>There are also refugees who come to Europe to have a better life but why is that a bad thing? First off, if they came here just for a better life then they aren't refugees, they are economic migrants. As to why that is a bad thing, it is because they take advantage of our welfare systems which are payed for by the people of the nation through taxes and should therefore be used for the people of that nation, not foreigners. In addition, these people come from cultures which are extremely different from our own which inherently then causes conflict between the host culture and the foreign culture and also dilutes the host culture. >How did we deserve a better living standard than others just because we were born in a rich country? This is simple, it is because these amazing countries we live in were built by our European ancestors. The foreigners coming here are not European and never will be European, just like how if I move to Japan I will never truly be Japanese. All the races of the world are not the same, we are different and therefore create different societies. Our beautiful European countries did not become "rich" out of thin air, it took centuries of hard work from heroic and intelligent European men to become who we are today. But now the global elite wish to through all that away by giving our countries away to foreigners and forcing 'multiculturalism' and 'diversity' down our throats. If this continues, Europe will no longer be Europe as whites will become minorities in our own homelands and the glory of Europe will perish. That is why people like me and many others wish to stop this madness.
@JakeAnge17 жыл бұрын
+EternalGlory "it took centuries of hard work from heroic and intelligent European men to become who we are today." You call forcefully colonizing other counteries and raping their resources, and slave trading as heroic acts and the result of hardwork?? Fool, you reap what you sow. As long as your governments don't try their hardest to rebuild and compensate the other counteries they damaged in the past, I hope they indeed get overflowed and overtaken by refugees or even actual thugs as the ancestors you're proud of did in the past. The sins *never* die.
@eternalglory63577 жыл бұрын
+Faisal Bafarat do you honestly think that only Europeans took over other countries and had slaves? People all around the world have been doing these things, the difference is that Europeans were better at it and were able to do it on a much larger scale mainly due to our technological advances and our willpower as explorers. Arabs colonized parts of Africa and had African slaves, Turks took over parts of Southern Europe and forcefully converted people to Islam, the Mongols sacked a large portion of the Muslim world, African tribes would go to war with and enslave other African tribes, Asian countries have a brutal history of imperialism and warfare between each other. World History is filled with conquest and enslavement but only whites are told that we have to feel guilty because of it.

Honestly some of the comments in this comment section are absolutely disgusting. Some comments are acting as though refugees aren't even people and are treating them with no respect as if they don't have feelings and that they deserve to be left homeless. Imagine if your country was riddled with corruption or you lived in a war torn and you had to leave behind everything you ever had a knew - your home, your family, your friends, your money, and everything you ever loved just to be able to live. People wouldn't get on boats illegally or flee their countries in extremely dangerous conditions if they weren't in an absolutely desperate state. I feel so sorry for all refugees because no one should have to go through what they had to go through and they especially don't deserve little brats on the internet degrading them because they are too ignorant to think of their sanctity of life even for a moment. I wish all the best & nothing but love peace and freedom for all refugees ❤️

WaffleWarble They take refugees? Lmao Best joke of 2017. The arabian peninsula has a population of appx. 78 mil, there are plenty official articles stating that the arabian peninsula countries have taken virtually no refugees, you ask why? Well it"s because they're scared of terrorism, when ironically they embrace it and fund it (hypothesis), I mean where else is ISIS getting all this money from? Europe should take few refugees just like Japan does, because there's plenty of room in Saudi Arabia, which only has a population of appx. 33 mil.

If it's not obvious to you, these people are young men and women that could fight for their country but instead they chose to invade Europe. It's not like they don't pass a couple different countries on their way. What about all the people from countries that are not at war right now? Are they peaceful civilians as well? Mostly men in their 20's and 30's - battle trained men in their prime. These are invaders not refugees. Real refugees would leave their country and stay in the first safe one they get into. Invaders pass from one to another, to get to their target destination. Mark my words 20-40 years from now most of Europe will be Muslim, and they will pass laws and regulations to change our lives, not adapt to the already set ones. Just wait and watch.
