There are thousands of how to videos on here for patio cleaning using bleach, hardly an unknown revelation. The key for a DIYer is time does not matter, so using supermarket bleach is an obvious method. Although as implied in this video, it may require reapplication at which point the economics are not so cheap. It is, at best, 4.5% concentration which explains why 24 hours ("dwell time") with no rain and possible reapplication may be needed. In contrast you can buy 10 - 15% bleach (without a licence) and make up your own solution. Hence professional patio cleaning businesses can "get away with" dwell times of 15 - 20 minutes and thus do large areas in a single day. resin based pointing is a very expensive option in terms of materials cost, but is quick and so saves on labour costs and skill. Overall project cost therefore down to whether you are a time rich / cash poor DIYer !

Hi, How long does the brush in resin pointing last? I need to redo my patio, it is sand and cement currently but it is breaking up and needs replacing. Do you have any footage of an area you did 'years ago' that shows how durable the product is by any chance? Great tip for cleaning the flags, thanks

Hi, I don,t have footage yet of pointing I did years age with the resin. I will re-visit some of my old projects to show how the pointing looks after years but I haven't been using it long enough to know. Having said that I've been told that 7-10 years is probably what you are looking at.

bear in mind that resin based pointing remains permeable and so dirt soaks in and plants grow in the resulting "soil"

@@wotviewer I do believe you can stiff brush/wire brush the top that can get a little contaminated and then top up with more of the product can't you??
@naturalhabitatlandscaping36815 ай бұрын
@@JonTaylor-u8w That's not the way I would do it. When the pointing is as bad as this one, I would re-point as I show in my video

Have you gone back to using Sika jointing Compound? noticed a yellow tub in the background.
@naturalhabitatlandscaping36814 ай бұрын
Hi David, Sika is the one that Jewson's stock and I think it was a bit cheaper or on offer so I used it on this project. It's perfectly fine to use, just seems to take longer to cure is all😀

@@naturalhabitatlandscaping3681 Aren't you in Scotland? it will be colder and wetter up there. Cracking job as usual. 🙂

@@davidannable9812 Not as wet as it was in Chelmsford on Tuesday and Wednesday! When the plane touched down in Inverness on Wednesday afternoon we were greeted by a wall of sun and heat and it's been like that since!
