I like to brew about 4 tablespoons on mate in a 3 cup measuring glass. Pour it through a strainer evenly into about 3 16oz containers. And just water it down to taste.

I just bought my very first yerba, playadito, and I love it. I prepare it according to his tutorials and keep my water at 75celsius because i love the bitterness. The first sip is super delicious BUT I cant taste anything after the second refill. Literally nothing. Only hot water. My gpurd is two thirds full. Also how am I supposed to drink yerba right after the refill? I always have to let it cool, but all tutorials say sip it instantly. How is that possible? Please help. I don't want to waste my yerba

If you can't drink right after a sip it is probably because your water is too hot. Try 60°C ou 65°C. I feel like hot water hides the bitterness

Im from Argentina. Thats because playadito is not that strong and so it becomes "washed" or however you say it in english. Get a stronger yerba. Usually the finer the leaves and the less sticks it has, the stronger the Yerba.

you can ad sweetner or sugar directly to the yerba, i like to add half spoon of sugar 1 time, drink it, then i drink without it like 1 or 2 times, and then i add half spoon of sugar again, and repeat. But you can replace the sugar a few drops of swetner

You can add sugar or sweetener but that’s a sacrilege 😂 For people who are not used to it it’s good to know that it has a really strong and bitter taste.

@@guillermom2365 That is bullshit, i bet 50% drink it without seetener and 50% with it, all the people i know put's sweetener, and only a few drink it pure (bitter) For my experience as Argentinian i say 80% drink it sweet, and 20% drink it bitter

​ @falaramal3979 I think you should try both ways, you can drink it first with out sweetner to try, and then add sweetner directly to the mate but not too much. if you dont like it sweet just keep pouring water, the sweet will fade away and the mate will be bitter again

It helps to make the Mountain stand throughout the day. And yes the first 2 cups r always the most bitter, thats why when with friends the cebador (the person preparing the mate) drinks the first cup so its not too bitter for the others

Yep! It's pretty much just like a loose leaf tea. Just prepared different. I loooove tereré. It's basically cold yerba mate. Idk if this the traditional way of making it, but I just do 1 tbs to 1cup/8oz of water in a big pitcher, let sit overnight, then strain and drink in the morning with a small amount of sugar syrup or agave nectar. I feel brewing it hot makes it more bitter, and that process is more complicated to me, while this cuts thru the bitterness a bit and not as tricky with getting the perfect temp hot water. Hope you enjoy it I've recently gotten into it and I love it. I try to stick to only 2 cups at most a day tho cause ive heard it can be linked to cancer. But I think most caffeinated drinks are.

I dont know from where you are, but i'll try to help. The type of yerba you use and the bomba (bombilla) have great influence. If your yerba is more dust (like in Southern Brazil, the "chimarrão"), a you'll need a bomba with more and bigger holes (the ones who are more circular, and not like a spoon). Also, here in Southern Brazil we have something called "camisa". Its a cover you put in the bomba's end, it helps filtering the yerba.
