But everybody has the right to feel like a doctorate degree should be rewarded to those who put in those long nights and hours of writing papers, doing presentations, hard assignments and exams, and internships while maintaining real life. I think it’s Symantec’s. The attachment of honorary separates it from academic. I went to college as well and it doesn’t bother me but I understand envy and everyone who feels a some kind of way because I know the work load and how stressful it is- I don’t think charla understands because he said he took the harder route because he had no one to show him. True but he wasn’t with us shooting in the gym learning all of that shit and studying all night, writing all night. He put in different work, not degree work.

I’m in my last year of school to get a doctorate and currently working on my dissertation. I have never worked this hard in my entire life or been this stressed. It is misleading to hand over an honorary doctorate. I think people should absolutely be recognized for their talent and agree that it can be called an award. But if you’re not spending a year+ to write a dissertation, complete years of course work, and/or complete some type of in-the-field practicum, an honorary doctorate should not be awarded. I also think it’s important to recognize those who made brilliant contributions without a degree. It shows that school isn’t in everyone’s path, but a dope career can be attainable without a degree.

An honorary doctorate is not an academic degree and does not provide the recipient with the privilege of using the title of Dr. outside of the campus of the school that awarded it. It is simply an honor in the form of a certificate of recognition. You cannot for example take an honorary doctorate and use it to apply for a job. It seems like some of these universities that are recognizing these celebrities with honorary doctorates aren't properly or adequately informing them of what the award actually entails and the associated protocols and limitations.

Undergraduate Degree = on average, 4 years Masters Degree = one average, 2 to 3 years Doctorate Degree = one average, 4 to 7 years In Total = 10 to 14 years to earn the average doctorate degree.
