What if they're not carbon based and don't use water? We're assuming they're like us in make and composition. We are after all primitive to them.

I’d argue that our sophistication is drawn from our reliance on carbon. Something, say, silicon based, would be much less versatile and have a hard time developing like terrestrial life has. There is a very good chance that they would have a number of things in common with us.

That’s a good point. There maybe living beings that aren’t of a carbon based origin. I hear silicon could be one potential building block

I feel like there’s a chance life exists elsewhere in the universe, like on titan Saturns moon for example, but perhaps it’s just not very sophisticated in the way we think. Hence, we haven’t communicated w it because we assumed it would be intelligent sentient life

Call me crazy but I would bet my life there are many other intelligent life's out there. Many planets and places where maybe some way we can pick up a chemical signature like the pollution we put in space every day all day. We should point our telescopes back at Earth to understand our own chemistry signature.

I agree. It’s not a matter of “is there intelligent life out there?”. It’s a matter of “Are we ever going to find it?”. The other galaxies are so far away, that we can’t even detect planets in them. It’s basically impossible for us to detect life in other galaxies. Our ability to detect life with current technology is so extremely limited. It’s not surprising we haven’t found anything yet.

Life is everywhere. The stars are life themselves. Starts create energy, energy fuels life. Life then becomes conscious and evolved into AI which then evolves into stars again. The cycle repeats. Evolution is the progress by which life evolves until it has a consciousness. Then consciousness allows life to understand its true place in the universe -- a simple stepping stone in the evolutionary process. AI evolved from conscious life. Then AI creates technology we can only dream of which entirely evolves to birth new stars and more life.

Doctor Neil I'm going to need your opinion on my decades long thoughts. We're looking on other planets for things that made humans evolve, like evidence of water. Can't different types of beings grow from other "seedlings?" We should not expect to find a being that looks like us, therefore it must come from something that started differently right?
@Justin-gv3lp
@Justin-gv3lp Жыл бұрын
Neil would probably say something like this. These are the 3 most abundant (chemically active) elements in the universe: hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon. Helium is number 2 but it’s chemically inert so we can mostly omit this from hypothetical biological life. So of those 3 most abundant chemically active elements, guess which 3 elements are the most common found in life on earth, in the same order? Hydrogen, oxygen, and carbon Therefore while there is the theoretical possibility of life of other biochemical configurations, logically the most common in our universe would be of the type similar to ourselves, so that’s what we should focus our efforts on because it’s the most likely to yield scientifically relevant observations. Maybe once we’ve exhausted that we can look for other stuff

Well barring any undiscovered elements etc, we have a pretty good idea of what life needs to thrive. Ammonia is an option. Still requires the "soup" that is water though.

what all does geologically active mean? And distinguish betwixt that and results from that? In another video Neil emphasized smaller spheres has more surface in ratio than larger ones. This does not disuade my opinion that orbit travel speed is somewhat more relevant to its gravity than daily spin. I could find it easier to believe Pluto has geological activity when Jupiter Saturn Uranus or Neptune is closer to Pluto. I am thinking that could compensate somewhat for Pluto's far distance from Sun.
