Yes that is true, but it doesn't not answer the host's question. The real question from the host is that how is it fair for people who are saved earlier receive the same reward as the one saved later, and perhaps had lived in a lifetime of sin. To simply answer the host's question on the surface, perhaps one could use the example of the thief, but it doesn't really answer the real question.

I agree with you. "Don’t I have the right to do what I want with my own money? Or are you envious because I am generous?" Verse 15 (above) sums up the entire message of the parable. It's not about the work that was done, but about the generosity of God. The men who worked the whole day wanted more than the men who worked one hour (or perhaps they wanted the later workers to have less?). They wanted what they believed they deserved. Although, 'making it to heaven' isn't exactly the goal.

The question is :How do you get to heaven and his answer is about a parable ! The parable say "the master"who is Jesus saved men at different time,so the one who is saved at 12 years old think that he "merits" more than the one who is saved at 75 years old because he lived 58 years more at serving the Lord. But when Jesus saved ,no matter your age, he give to all the same price : Eternal life ! So we get to heavens by the choice of God only, who choose is elects at different times.

Finally it's a parable of God Sovereignty who is the ONE who choose and give Eternal Life! And it's the explanation about Justification and work.We are not Justified by work but by Jesus. When the last workers who had not been "rent" (saved) are called by Jesus to come and work(doing God will) in his vineyard "his kingdom" because we reign presently with him and we accomplish is will we are is worker,is servant that he choose. It's not man choice but Jesus choice and call for is elects.

For no one can lay a foundation other than that which is laid, which is Jesus Christ. Now if anyone builds on the foundation with gold, silver, precious stones, wood, hay, straw- each one's work will become manifest, for the Day will disclose it, because it will be revealed by fire, and the fire will test what sort of work each one has done. If the work that anyone has built on the foundation survives, he will receive a reward. If anyone's work is burned up, he will suffer loss, though he himself will be saved, but only as through fire.

jeff taylor And if you would read your bible you should know that you have never done any of those things right. Faith comes from hearing the gospel, grace is the free gift of God, no one comes to the father except through the Son. We are sinners, we deserve death, God still loves us, He sent us Christ who lived sinless to die under penalty of all our sin, through him we have forgiveness, all who believe THIS and are baptized are covered in the righteousness of Christ. I believe that hell is the grave. The "lost" simply die and that's the end. If you want eternal life with God in heaven, then you simply have to put your faith in Jesus, and when you truly believe in Him with your heart then you will be "born again." Your spirit and God's spirit will become united and you will receive eternal life so that even when your body dies, you will still live with God forever. Rom 6:23 - For the wages of sin is death, but the free gift of God is eternal life in Christ Jesus our Lord.

It says that we'll be able to look down from a place in heaven and see them for remembrance of what Christ did for us and have to do that once a year. But the bible says those in heaven will have no memories of their loved ones that never made it to heaven. Hope that helps.

So if we can see such a thing as not moral how much more would God with a greater understanding of morality see it. So the question is can we trust that he'll do the right thing till the day we see and understand. For me I think I can.

Three simple things (IMO -of course) including the 10 Commandments (not suggestions) 1) Accept Jesus Christ (Yeshua Ben Yosef -Jesus of Nazareth) as The son of God - Mathew 10: 32 2) When you're dead you will be shown only the good things you did in life with no repeat from start to finish. Choose 1 good thing you did 3) What did you do to conquer in the name of your faith? e.g: did you speak up when you should have or etc. Just be good helping others as this world is after all just a test

Trolling myself today, I realised that this comment requires updating because it is totally wrong. Above is what would happen in the Judgement Hall of Hell (if a soul made it that far), where it's all trickery and only the good deeds of a person's life are shown; then at the end of each good deed shown, a person has the quick chance to choose one, or forget what it was as they say no and get to see the next good deed they did during their lifetime, and maybe choose that. Make sure to pick one good deed before reaching the end, but the person won't know when that could be. I myself want to get judged this way; '“do not judge, or you too will be judged. In the same way you judge others, you will be judged, and with the measure you use, it will be measured to you.' Matthew 7:2 . And; 'before the judgement seat of Christ, so that each of us may receive what is due us for the things done while in the body, whether good or bad.' 2 Corinthians 5:10. So proclaim as you go, saying, ‘The Kingdom of Heaven is at hand.' Matthew 10:7 p.s Hell has its own heaven (some call it Elysium)! And that is the light at the end of the tunnel version for death (and not everlasting life, through Jesus Christ Our Lord and Saviour. Amen). There a person eventually (if they make it this far that is), starts at the oldest age they can be, and this is to despise old age which would normally bring with it wisdom. Deny the creator (as the fallen angels command) and become younger, get special privileges, or be punished! Big trouble is, that this scenario is limited in time, and the demons just want to take as many souls with them as possible. Followers of Christ don't follow the light which was Lucifer; we have been told to follow Jesus Christ The Light of the World, and become The Light of the World ourselves.

If your soul can’t be saved 15 minutes before the electric chair. Why does a priest or pastor the last free non prison person to talk to them? You think the thief on the cross was not saved? Jesus said: today you will be with me in paradise. The thief was not water baptized. Had no works or deeds(James). Pretty straightforward.

Doesn't the creator and the one whom forms the spirit of man within him have the right in choosing how to forgive sin? Our lives are in His hands so it doesn't matter whether you agree or not unless your own hand can save you. col 1:20 and through him to reconcile to himself all things, whether things on earth or things in heaven, by making peace through his blood, shed on the cross. So when one states I don't need Jesus for forgiveness reply to them, "Its not for you to choose how to forgive sin" Those who are from God hear what God says. And those who listen and learn from the Father go to Jesus. It is His Fathers will that He raise them up on the last day. A resurrection first made known through the prophet Daniel.

Might be opening a can of worms here, but I've always had this question. When Jesus was on the cross, the bandit/thief who was next to him, asked for forgiveness and Jesus said, "you shall be in paradise with me". Why did he say that instead of The Kingdom of Heaven/God? Makes me think that there is a difference between the two. Because in John 3:5; Jesus answered, "Very truly I tell you, no one can enter the kingdom of God unless they are born of water and the Spirit". Since God cannot contradict himself, there must be a difference, or a place like "paradise", where believers go who are not born again. Thoughts on this?

A person in the 11th hour can be saved but he has done no work in the kingdom. Its not about dying.See (Matthew 20:1 to Mat 20:17). Its about rewards, wages, labor and working in the kingdom to save people from their sin and feeding the hungry and much more see Mat 25:33 to Mat 25:46. Why did he misuse the parable? IDK

WaterGirl49, Seeing as how the Bible says no one can come to Christ unless/until the Father calls him, I would say the parable does fit. The boss in the parable is the Father calling us to Him. I knew right away when I heard the question that Mr. Keller would answer with this parable. I too am a little disappointed in his answer overall though. He never explained WHY laborers clocking in at different times receiving the same pay is just. Truthfully, it ISN'T just. The boss has a right to do it, yes. Doesn't make it fair though..

Either Jesus did it all on the cross, or He died for nothing and it is up to us to work our way to heaven. Salvation does not come as a result of my works or obedience. If it does, Christ died for nothing. It is not even partially due to my works and obedience, because there's no scriptural percentage of how many good works I must contribute to my own salvation. Sent by God, Jesus, out of His undying love and obedience to the Father, allowed Himself to be nailed to the cross as the payment for our sins. Romans 8:3

That parable has nothing to do with 'grace'. The guy has missed the point and used an irrelevant illustration which has nothing to do with 'last minute conversion'. There is no such bible teaching which indicates that people who leave things until the last minute will be saved. The opposite is true - genuine Christians do not make a pretence of serving God. It takes endurance to become approved as a genuine Christian, therefore, it is not possible for someone to wilfully and deliberately lead a life opposed to God's will and then make a last minute change - God is not fooled. It's like a driver who breaks the speed limit thinking he can get away with it - until he sees the flashing blue lights in his rear view mirror. Then he may regret getting caught but he will not be let off for breaking the law. Similarly, the bible tells us the following .. "But the one who has endured to the end will be saved." - Matthew 24:13 " For just as the days of Noah were, so the presence of the Son of man will be. 38 For as they were in those days before the Flood, eating and drinking, men marrying and women being given in marriage, until the day that Noah entered into the ark, 39 and they took no note until the Flood came and swept them all away, so the presence of the Son of man will be." - Matthew 24:37-39 "Consequently, my beloved ones, just as you have always obeyed, not only during my presence but now much more readily during my absence, keep working out your own salvation with fear and trembling." - Philippians 2:12

no, guys read his comment, you cannot surrender your soul and then commit suicide right after. He didn't mean it if he ended up taking his life right after. Now lets hypothesize that right before the bullet entered his skull that he surrender his soul to Christ, then yes he will live forever in Heaven and in the new earth. Just as it takes one act of sin to be worthy of hell.... which people say is unfair.... it only takes one act of surrender to live forever, which I think is a fair trade off to something that actually could have felt pretty unfair originally. If I robbed a corner shop, got caught, and the judge told me "I will give you life in prison, unless you apologize.... if you apologize I will give you freedom forever... " What type of person would say "That's so unfair, I can get life in prison for robbing a shop? Screw you! GIVE ME LIFE IN PRISON!!!" lol no you'd probably say "Oh, yea not only does that punishment sound horrible, but thank you so much for your grace. I was afraid ii would at least get probation." Now watch this. What if the judge went even further and said "Because of my duty to the law, someone still has to be punished for your crime. So I am going to spend a life in prison for you instead..... because I love you and want the best for you...." That's literally what Jesus did for us on a much more massive scale. And for some reason we think that's unfair TO US!!! Its UNFAIR TO HIM!!!!! Its a blessing for us, but its massively unfair to him. But he already did it. The best thing you could do is not complain about how unfair the consequences are of not making the easiest choice ever is. The best you can do is to not make Christ's actions vain an accept his sacrifice as a gift.

But you forget or perhaps it has never been revealed to you that there is an Adolf hitler in all of us and only God in his common and saving grace makes you to differ . You mistakenly think that you are inherently a better person than Hitler. Our crimes against a Holy God make us all Hitlers. So of course if hitler truly repented and put his faith in Christ as the theif on the cross did , yes .

Is it fair that a guy who has played the lotto all his life and never hit the lotto but an old 80 year old couple hits it the lotto for millions the first time they played? If there is a God, maybe God is not relegated to our ideology of fairness if there is a God.

It is written: In the first Adam ALL died. In the last Adam ALL were made alive to walk in fullness of (Zoe=divine) life. The Gospel: the restoration of a wo-/man back to the image of God. "Saved" also means "made complete". Well. In Christ we already are. Col 2:9-10.

This guy answers like some shifty politician; don't frighten the horses because I'm up for reelection! He's a flat lining Christian. But hey, his turf is Manhattan, so you got to gently stoke the rich folks! Do youself a fab and watch Ravi Zackarias, or better still, Dr Fred Taristano, both of whom are on KZbin.

Question: when the guy who kidnapped, raped, murdered and dismembered eleven young girls over the course of 3 years before getting caught accepts Jesus just prior to his own death and is therefore welcomed into heaven, does he get to hang out with, play Barbie dolls and make mud pies with those girls in heaven? I'll bet those girls would love to see him again, and so would the girls' parents! By the way, an employer who paid workers the same amount no matter if they worked a little or a lot would soon see ALL the workers show up near the end of the day, work very little, and expect full pay. That is a really stupid parable.

@@theamalgamut8871 Faith in Jesus Christ is the key to going to heaven. Jesus Christ is the Way, He is the Truth and the Life. He is the giver of life. He is the Creator of the heavens and the earth. Jesus said, “I am the Way, and the Truth and the Life. No one comes to the Father except through me.” - John 14:6: “Whoever believes in the Son has eternal life, but whoever rejects the Son will not see life, for God’s wrath remain in him.” - John 3:36. “ He who has the Son has life; he who does not have the Son of God does not have life.” 1 John 5:12. “ Salvation is found in no one else, for there is no other name under heaven given to men by which we must be saved.” - Acts 4:12. Salvation is from Jesus. Christ. He is the Savior of the world. To go to heaven a person has to repent of his sins, accept Jesus as his Lord and Savior and obey Him.
