Dear ACA shows: Next time a caller tries pretending that Islam and Christianity are both about the same god, therefore it's all true, please point out to them that they are mutually exclusive: Islam states unequivocally that jesus is just a man. He is a prophet of god, but not a god/ not the god. Christianity teaches that he IS god. They can't both be true. Either the new testament is false when it calls jesus 'god,' or the koran is false when it says that jesus is just a man and not god. nb: there are some great resources your hosts might like to use at Religioustolerance.org It's a great website that I'm not affiliated with in any way, that has a copious amount of information of use to both theists and atheists (though I think atheists will get more from it).

In truth, Judaism is far more compatible with islam, though once again, still not compatible.

I would suggest reading “On the Historicity of Jesus: Why We Might Have Reason for Doubt” by Richard Carrier PhD. Richard Carrier has a PhD in ancient history particularly the science of the Roman Empire he also can read ancient Greek language that the New Testament was written in. The New Testament was not written in Aramaic nor was it written in Hebrew. Even the Old Testament that was used for many of our current translations of the holy Bible came from the Greek Septuagint which is a translation of the Hebrew Torah along with some other Hebrew religious texts I believe the Torah is the first four or five books of the Bible. The only author who wrote any of the books in the Bible that we can identify is the apostle Paul of which only 5 to 7 of those books attributed to him actually were written by Paul. Richard Carrier who admits he’s an atheist but who also started writing his book “On the Historicity of Jesus…”Assuming that while Jesus was not the son of God who walked around doing miracles, Jesus was an itinerant rabbi who had a small following. When doing historical research Richard Carrier use Bayes theorem for estimating the probability that individual historical figures existed and performed the events attributed to them. For example historians are pretty convinced that Homer the alleged author of the Iliad in the Odyssey and Aesop the author of his fables did not exist. Whereas Socrates, Plato did exist. Now look at people in the Bible mainstream view of biblical scholars believe that Abraham, Joshua, Moses did not exist. The Exodus out of Egypt didn’t happen. Richard Carrier while an atheist was pretty much convinced that there was a man named Jesus who was an itinerant rabbi walking around preaching with a small following. He explains in his book that was pretty much the mainstream consensus view of Jesus. Mainly because all the mysticism writings were poorly documented at the time Richard Carrier was completing his PhD studies in 2008 or so he graduated with a bill of student debt that was around $20,000. Because he had a blog and was active in the atheist community he proposed that if his followers could raise $20,000 to help him pay off his student loan he would write a scholarly work on any subject they wanted. It turned out the overwhelming majority wanted him to look into the historicity of Jesus so he accepted and started a six year research project that ended up with him writing four or five books and culminated with a book on the historicity of Jesus a 600+ page annotated and documented with all his sources. The results using the most liberal interpretation of the evidence came up with 3 to 1 probability against there being a historical Jesus Christ and a more realistic probability of 12,000 to 1 against there being a historical Jesus Christ. Now that last one the 12,000 to 1 odds may seem absolutely convincing but as Richard Carrier said if you were told there was a 12,000 to 1 chance that your airplane was going to blow up would you get in that airplane? I would say if there was no other imperative for me to leave by that airplane and I’d probably not get on. Now if there was a civil war going on and Americans were being killed by both sides that I probably take my chances and as I say if it’s not something like that situation I’d stay where I was. Now for 3 to 1 chance I’m not sure. Anyway, as more documentation has come in I will suggest the evidence for an actual Jesus Christ is looking slimmer and slimmer and the more I read the Bible a book I called totally disgusting. Also several decades ago a library of religious clay tablets were found in the desert south of Israel but within a mile or so from the sea. I don’t remember if it’s the Mediterranean Sea or the Sea of Galilee or the Dead Sea all I know was there was a small town (or city) within view of the scene and then a little further inland was discovered the ruins of a temple complex in which this library of religious clay tablets were found. The interesting thing about the tablets were that they were written in an ancient form of Hebrew which contained an earlier version of the Hebrew Bible but very close to the Canaanite religion. A family of God’s called Elohim which was a council of the gods where El was the father God and his wife Asherah and he had three sons Hadad the god of the Earth, Yahweh the thunder God, and Baal the god of rain and dew and the most powerful of the Canaanite Gods whose aspect was the Bull. Baal was a friend of mankind and protector of children.

The evidence then promotes the hypothesis to a theory, beyond reasonable doubt, and that theory can always be overturned by evidence beyond any doubt. (This is why I oppose capital punishment.
