Underrated movement option is jump height. You can vary your jump height with how long you press the jump button. If you're jumping around a lot, especially from platform to platform, you should try to jump as low as you can but still enough to make the jump to cut down on air time. Over the course of a match, those small milliseconds add up to a lot of time save.

0:45 This technique is alternately called splat hopping, squid (octo) hopping, and bunny hopping. If you suddenly find yourself surrounded by opposing ink - whether by a misplay or a sudden barrage of opposing specials, this can potentially help you get out of a bad situation in a pinch. Not mentioned in this Q&A session is the technique of sub strafing. If you press and hold [R] (sub weapon) while swimming, then release [ZL] to stop swimming, and finally press [ZL] again to restart swimming, you can bypass the deceleration that normally takes place when changing directions while swimming. It is not easy to perform at first, but with constant practice, you can pull it off just like the top players!

I don't think I'm ready for this technique yet, but I'm getting better at movement in general, I just have to remember that squid surge doesn't give you armor like the roll, I had a couple matches last night where I became a firework because of that. Also, I experienced a glitch where I didn't get any height using it, I think what happened was the game over corrected, and thought there was enemy ink in the way despite it not being on my screen, but I can't be sure.

As a avid Ninja Squid fan in Splatoon 2, I ran 3 subs of Swim Speed to offset the slowdown, and apparently Ninja Squid is less Gear Dependent in Splatoon 3. I run it in 3 also, and it was one of my first Gear Targets. In both games I play a Medium Weightclass Weapon (Octobrush in 2, Sloshing Machine in 3). Apparently in 2 you needed 5 subs (or One Main and 2 Subs) to fully offset the Slowdown for the Medium Weightclass, but I willingly sacrificed some speed for low visibility in ink. In 3 I currently run 2 Subs (currently on my Shoes, want them on my shirt) and I think I move about the same as normal, not sure if that’s really the case lol.

@@EclipseAtDusk worst part of the Aerospray to me is the range. It's humiliating. Getting zoned with that failed Metalwork project is frustrating as hell. Getting zoned is typically frustrating because it is literally a defining part of your weapon. That's why I think Splash is just better because the difference between a Splattershot and Splash is miniscule enough to not get zoned half the time. Another thing I've personally noticed with the movement tech (I think it's called scrambling in English, 雷神ステップ/raijin step in Japanese): The faster you do it, the slower you'll move to a certain degree. Giving yourself some time to pick up swimming speed before shooting your feet again will let you move a little faster. Swim speed up improves its effect too. Unfortunately slow startup/high end lag weapons may not be able to utilize this effectively.
@nightismonochrome2 жыл бұрын
Oh one more movement tech, not sure if you've seen it is a quick climb for short ledges. Great for tower control. While near a wall, jump, paint wall with one or two shots, squid form, climb wall, all in one fluid motion. After jumping you shouldn't touch the ground. With practice you can get 2 shots off while in mid air and climb higher walls like the one in the back right of the shooting range (with certain weapons of course)
@rouge-ish3242 жыл бұрын
@@nightismonochrome The true test of skill for this specific tech is to do it with the L3 Nozzlenose. I got so good at it in Splat 1 back when the weap was good. However, low fire rate weapons and ones with lag struggle to quick climb too...
