I have west with mid century modern wall of Windows. I am having 3m film put on the glass so that I don’t have to buy drapes which will spoil the vibe in the room.great job, James!

Great video, I painted my west facing home office BM’s alligator alley, I love the warmth through all stages of the day but found I needed to add additional light sources for the morning when it was at its darkest.

Totally agree with everything you have said. I get calls all the time to pick out colors for re-sale. I have to see the house in person to truly pick the perfect color for that home. It all depends upon the flooring, furniture and ceiling height too on how a color will look.

Our 90 year old Florida bungalow is centered on the compass! Front, North. It was the front porch. In the 50’s owners made it a sunporch, wrap around windows on three sides.Road widened, traffic increased, we removed all windows on North side which is now library/office space. We get wonderful morning light. Shelves, furniture, walls trim in decorator white. Upholstery navy, window treatments navy/white toile. It’s not too dark. Great room adjacent with west windows. The kitchen, dining, living space in yellow to soft mustard, light to dark. I think the brightness makes the color of the office calming. Problem: There is a small entry next to the office, North from great room, which is 4x7.5. The only natural light is from the west, in upper panes of the door. Considering navy on walls, again with whites. There is a 48”, low pine bookcase with a 3x4 mirror above it, so little of the navy would actually show. Am I crazy in such a small space?

Thank God someone like you finally did this video. Now I can breath, as my painting is starting Monday next, and I chose a warm BM Cedar Key, and in the West facing family room will look gorgeous.

Go West was also an early 90's pop band (with their hit "King of Wishful Thinking"). Useless information on a painting channel, I know. :) Seriously, thanks for reviewing West-facing rooms. My west facing master bathroom went under five wall color iterations over a year until I found the right one. My painter is probably sick of seeing me by now. It really does matter when you are going to be in the room the most that should determine which wall color to choose. I found with time that my work schedule has me in the bathroom mostly before dawn, and after dusk. The colors I kept choosing were great on weekends during daylight hours when I was home, but I disliked them at night. I.E.--SW Modern Gray was gorgeous in afternoon light, but lower-kelvin light bulbs at night made the color chalky, and higher kelvin light bulbs made the purple undertone pop way too much. I finally found a color I loved at night, but still retained some undertone in the afternoon western light. Went with SW Site White. Love the subtle blue at night with daylight light bulbs, and the room feels airy and crisp when I spend time in the bathroom in the afternoon. Looking forward to seeing what colors you recommend soon!

I live in a townhouse with northwest and southeast facing windows depending on the side of the home but there are tons of trees especially on the northwest side. So I’m not really sure what to do

Awesome! been waiting for this video for a while! My living room/home office is west facing and here in Lima, most of the winter is gray and cloudy. I have this massive windows so I´ve been thinking something like faded terracotta... I know I might "regret" it this summer but I need some warmth... I thought about that plaster Paris but I feel like I need to inject some life into these walls, especially cause the house is Spanish Revival with current all-white walls and a lot of bricks and terracotta tiles everywhere, so I hate the orange bouncing from the floor... Does it make sense? Anyway, great video!

I’ve got NE kitchen (BM Barley is a bit heavy) and SW living room Navajo White (which is a bit light and gets washed out). I see everything you are talking about! I WISH it was pure west without all the reflected trees 😭as I enjoy warm. Like others have mentioned this open concept is killing me! Do you have a tip for counteracting all the green reflection from trees it turns all my light colours are a washed out green. Please please please don’t say green. Sadly I’m not a fan of sage unless it’s the real deal… but I do have some BM Bonsai floating around 😊 Also can you do a video about brightening up a tall dark entry with almost zero natural light. Thanks I truly enjoy your videos and watch them all!

I need help! I just moved to the gulf coast of Florida where 50 degrees is the lowest temperature at night in the winter. Today is 97 and blistering. Of course I am a beach/surf kind of gal so I am looking for a cooler color to keep us feeling cooler in my south west facing living room. I LOVE Benjamin Moore's Aloha and Tropical Cabana. how about white dove? My open space kitchen dinning living is facing east and west. My first choice was gray but I feel its to dark afternoon and night. painted all bedrooms in this color. other color I like is classics gray. how this one works with west east?

Off topic question, but do you have to buy paint brand’s paint fan decks? I LOVE paint chips, and we are hoping to build a house in the next year, but I’ve got two kids under three, so it would be rather hard to hunt for all the colors I’m interested in sifting through with two kids in the cart!

I notice the window glass also adds a cast of color. So my question is, my house faces fill west…I’m trying to pick carpet and paint. I like warm colors and no grey. So, should I try and pick colors while the sun in rising , overhead or full west? I just don’t like grey, muddy or dark. My current color is called beachnut. Really nice neutral yellow color..but boring. Any suggestions on how to pick colors with slightly tinted windows and best time of day?

I live in North Tampa. We have 10 foot ceilings and the house faces west. We chose accessible beige because our floors are Walnut and decor colors are changing constantly. As for this type of home, Farmhouse colors do not work yet, when we shop for decor, it is difficult to choose decor styles and colors that look best with these Florida homes. I'm a fan of a little eclectic boho if that is even a thing but love all of the beautiful green pallets, mixed with neutral colors. Mid Century modern would probably work well but too be honest, I am not a fan of all the clean lines. One or two are great but not too may. Anyway, based on my information, what style and colors can your recommend. Please help with my decor ADD issue. Thank you. I love your channel. 🙆‍♀
