Just bought a truck with an effer 62s3 that leaks down on the secondary boom when it has any amount of weight on it , any idea what would be causing this issue?

I might be a little late here but if you are getting a leak inside the boom, that's witchcraft. any leaks from the boom can only be caused by the hydraulic extensions or if you have extra hydraulics for rotators, etc. usually the leak comes from the valve that keeps the extensions from moving on their own. Also the piping might leak from either of the sealed ends since they use aluminum on smaller applications. In finland we call these seals "crushing pearls". they seal as they're tightened. The only irritating fault that this 62 could have would be if the gear rack that rotates the crane starts to leak. that causes some work, frustration and usually lightens up ones wallet :D

@@akuhuomanen1584 thanks for the comment, it was the secondary boom holding valve that was leaking passed and causing the lowering issue

@@henryhenry3832 Good to hear that you had it fixed ! Not a mechanic by trade myself but I have wrestled with these things for years. Gotta know how to fix them since repair shops allways takes their time and I don't have that luxury usually :D Have a good one !
