When Deobandi and Barelvi school got opened in India in 17th or 18th century, did they think they were smarter and more knowledgeable than their forefathers? See your argument is invalid. If you wanna go by that argument then as an ummah it will lead all the way to Sahaba's and Prophet Muhammad SAW. So follow them and you will not go astray..

Been upon Salafiyyah ever since, الحمد لله Barelvis and Deobandis are upon major innovations. Their acts do not benefit (ie. recite ayah 4,374 times). This is not from the sunnah of the Prophet ﷺ so it would never benefit us in this life or hereafter. Such acts are actually waste of time. We don't need to refute Al Salaf Al Saliheen as they are pure followers. Unfortunately (and I know this will upset some people), a big fraction of salafists today are very hateful and spread hate and division within the umma. There is also alot of hypocrisy - they say to support the ruler and not protest, yet they didn't say anything about democratically elected governments being overthrown when it wasn't in their favor. Normalisation with Israel was unspeakable a few years ago but now it's OK because the ruler said so? I'm not saying this is all Salafists but this is an influential community including many Shaikhs and influencers. Even if you think you are right, no need to spread hate to deliver your message. May Allah guide us all.
