i don't get under a weight hyping or competitive, there's something about the mental focus and discipline required to move a really big weight that is really zen like tranquil. as in everything else shuts down for those 30 seconds. problem is, unless you have that feeling of being overpowered, crushed by the weight, you don't get to that same place. its like a high that you chase, that isn't a high, its just calm.

Another great show, thanks guys for taking the time to do these podcasts. With my Cajun accent I usually say my-nez. I have think to say mayo-aise. Haha!!! I'm a message therapist, I work with a lot of New Orleans area bodybuilders, powerlifters, and Olympic lifters, as well as other athletes. Unfortunately, there aren't many that have the knowledge or strength to work on lifters like y'all. I use postural analysis and client feedback to dictate what approach I'll use. If any of you are in the area hit me.

Reading the book “Talent Is Overrated” basically talking about how talent isnt a thing scientifically, and it shows why Arabs are coming through, they’ve mastered “deliberate practice” which is v hard to do and they’re dedicated. All the best bodybuilders practice deliberate practice by accident or intentionally but we’re also the inly industry where genetics do effect success to some degree.
@JackTse4 жыл бұрын
i haven't read that book but i've done self improvement reading before. My 2 cents on it is if you deliberately practice - you can reach your talent potential (sharpen what talent you do have). Also, rarely is there a human who maximizes both talent and work ethic... final factor is also "time". You can achieve some level of work ethic and talent with consistency over time as well... not everything happens right away. That's my Ted talk! Have a great weekend everybody!
@CommonSenseBodybuilding4 жыл бұрын
Jack Tse haha good points, though studies have shown “talent” actually only gives you the 5% head start and the rest is through diligent, long-term deliberate practice which follows a strict structure (see Ben Franklins writing practice as an example and the guy who learnt to remember 80 words instantly, a man with average potential for the task before). Most people can achieve most things and the most “talented” people in history - think tiger woods - actually had no talent just perfectly structured practice from early ages
