I love your videos yuliku! I wanted to ask, are you ever worried about gender bias or your privilege? Obviously men are taught from when they are little kids never to approach people in public, and it's basically unthinkable for a man to approach a woman and start filming without consent, that's a dangerous situation! I also noticed you prefer to film women over men, does gender equality interest you or is it a factor? I love your art and I'm so impressed by your confidence, and I don't think you are wrong to exploit your privilege for your art, you're doing such amazing work, just want to hear your perspective!

Wow, thank you for sharing your thoughts. So I'm not from Canada, in my culture, it's rude to approach strangers. But I think in certain area (artistic area not financial areas) people love to be approached. Men or woman. I specifically want to video women because it's difficult to look at a woman in the eyes nowadays. And to feel their emotions. Because as you say, because gender biases, so I thought it would be cool to video more women and to share their emotions to people. In my experience, I think women like to be approach by men. But it depends on the location and what they're doing. If you approach a woman near the lake, or in a park, the beach, If she's not going to work, or doing shopping. Lots of women love to be approached. Even by men, just my experiences. I think most of the time when a man approach a woman, take myself as an example, I have been approached by men many times. They don't like to listen to what you have to say, they want to take charge. So usually when a man approach me, he want me to give him my Instagram, or have a drink with him or talk to him even if I told him I'm busy at the moment. I find that when a man approach me, usually he wants something from me and he wants it now. So it's difficult to communicate with those people as human. I think they probably learn those approaching skills from some guru. When you see me filling people without asking, it's because I asked them before I filmed, so yes, they were acting in these videos, for my behind the scenes. I never film people without asking. But I know some people do, I personally think it's fine. Vice media filmed me without asking. They showed me in a video they posted. Also I have seen men approaching people. It might not be normal in your generation. But even woman approaching woman is not common in your generation. Here's 3 KZbin channels I recommend you to check out. 1 Stranger Kitchen Two British walk around London to offer to cook for people in their houses 2 Discover Connection A group of people in Vancouver doing projects to connect with strangers 3 Kino Link My friend Dan capturing fashion of strangers in the streets Toronto.

Just remember, it's rare for woman to approach woman, or woman to approach man, but it does happen, in areas that's more friendly. Parks, artistic neighborhoods would be ideal to do that.

@@TheLibraryOfEmotions Thank you for your reply, it was very interesting to read!! I think there's probably a bit more to it from a male perspective, women are very unapproachable because often you will get a scowl for even looking near a woman :P Of course, some people don't mind being approached, but those that do not want to be approached can do things that are very hurtful like recording you and posting it on facebook or calling your relatives or work :(( It's scary to say the least! Thank you for the links, I will check them out! It's so heartwarming to see!

@@jg-tz4fn I get a scowls every hour when I do my project so I actually made a video about it in 2019 called "What can you do except judging people", you could watch it if you want. Women definitely judge you a lot when you approach them. Unfortunately we can't change that. But when someone scowl sat you, try to remember that there will be a woman who would be welcomingly accept you. But I understand men are in a very difficult situations in nowadays in the west. To try not to offend women. But if you ever want to talk to a woman in a appropriate setting, you still need to face that scowls. That's the price you pay for being open to someone first. Recommend you to watch the video '"What can you do except judging people", I hope you could find scowls less scary. It's usually not all about you, everybody see your intention differently, if a person is lack of trust, she's going to scowls at you. Another thing is that we see the side of the story we want to see. For example. you see how difficult nowadays for men to interact with the opposite sex. But a woman might think she needs to protect herself from men, to be tough when a man is trying to be friendly to her, because take the news as an example : An Asian woman got bitten up by a man and a British woman got raped by a policeman. It's normal if you are trying to be friendly to someone and they got offended. It's not all about you, it's about how they see the world. And I see how difficult for a young man to act appropriately in our time. But if you are not hurting anyone, if you just want to talk to a woman you don't know. Why not? I can't see the harm. You will face tons of rejections, not because you are not charming enough, or funny enough. I face tons of rejections too. Even though I dress in a very interesting style. I wish you luck my brother.

I'm afraid it will be more and more difficult to connect with a person after 2020. People are generally in a weird place this year.

It's not the worst, once I was doing a video outside and even though I wasn't pointing my camera to the people, as they weren't the subject of my video, I got approached by a woman and a police officer, because this "lovely" lady happened to carelessly walk into my video, and instead of asking me if I could delete that part or blur her out she straight away asked for a nearby police officer's assistance. Yeah... ridicoulus. People can be mean. Obviously I was within my rights, and once the officer learned about what really happened firmly but politely told her to f off. I still respected her wish and even though I could use the footage anywhere, I never used that part and never will.

I discovered you channel today. The way you talk is very soothing, kinda like unintentional ASMR (in you know about it). It's like there is not a problem in the world, nothing to rush to, everything is calm and well. Your videos have given me great comfort because I don't get the chance to look many people in the eye, I work from home, due to restrictions in my country everybody is wearing a mask on the street so I don't see full faces either and being able to connect to different emotions through the eyes of the people you filmed was amazing. Thank you, I admire your craft, courage and determination

Hello I’m so happy I came across this video. I think I met you in Kensington park one year and you asked me to be in your movie about people’s expressions. I had light blue hair a wheelchair and a cast on my neck. If it was you you had a cute pokey mon hat on. I have been looking for the movie ever since. Was this you and if so what was your movie called and where can I see it. Thanks and I hope this was you.

I have approached strangers especially chicks and got tons of numbers and went on dozen of dates. I'm close to 10k approach counts easily. "Rejections" will harden your skin and at the end of the day, no one will remember you. Don't live in regret and approach and talk to that person that you wanted to talk to
